Took advantage of a fall in the weights to get back to winning ways over fences earlier this year. Given a wind op since then he bounced back from a couple of moderate efforts at Carlisle last time (first try over 3m, held up); ground an unknown.
Produced a mixed bag of jumping when seen over fences last term and has yet to totally convince in this sphere. Stable very much starting to find their feet of late and he could well have more to offer this year; returns from an absence.
Temperamental sort who tends to go the wrong way after each seasonal debut (won first time out last three seasons). Ran no sort of race when last seen but all three wins have come on heavy when fresh so has no excuses today; still comes with risks.
Fell at the first last time out but was a winning hurdler in today's conditions with some good form to his name over fences despite being 0-6. Generally takes time to warm to his task but today's test may be what he needs off a decent mark.
Failed to jump very well when returning from a seven-month break at Wetherby last time (made numerous mistakes). That wasn't the first time that his fencing competence has let him down since winning at Uttoxeter om heavy ground last January.
Very consistent for the yard over hurdles with four wins (never finished outside the first two); given a stiff task on chasing debut behind Black Op at Stratford. Better expected back in handicaps, 7lb above last winning mark; ground a question mark.
Hurdles winner on stable debut at Uttoxeter (2m7f) his limitations were exposed twice after than in novice hurdles by superior rivals. Well held on chasing debut off a 3lb higher at Sedgefield last time (finished remote fourth); more needed.
Novice hurdle winner on this card two years ago he's yet to win over fences though he did make an encouraging reappearance over 2m4f here last time. Just beaten by Zolfo (runs 12.45) he's on a fair mark judged on his hurdles form; cheekpieces added.
Forecasts
Mr Mcgo (2/1), Ask The Weatherman (3/1), Snuff Box (4/1), Head To The Stars (5/1), Mr Caffrey (14/1), Cave Top (14/1), Fortified Bay (25/1), Bandsman (25/1)
Six of the seven renewals of this event have been won by 7yo but the trio in that age group this time may struggle to uphold that record with Mr Caffrey looking the best of them although the trip in the ground is a question he needs to answer. Bandsman is another with a ground question mark against him in a race that may turn into a grind which would suit Ludlow faller HEAD TO THE STARS who if he remains upright has always looked the type for this sort of race. Mr McGo steps up in trip with first-time cheekpieces and he’s certainly in the mix after his second here last time over 2m4f. Ask The Weatherman comes with risks as does Snuff Box but neither can be ignored as they tick some boxes.
- Head To The Stars
- Mr Mcgo
- Snuff Box
