Scored on his second career start at Uttoxeter (2m4f) in a maiden hurdle. Has been unable to follow that up in three attempts since. His last appearance came at Worcester (2m4f) where he was pulled up after the fifth hurdle. Needs to bounce back.

His sole success came at this course over 2m in a five runner field back in January. Has appeared on the AW at this track on the Flat in his last two starts. Should be fit but others make more of an appeal.

Prevailed in back-to-back races at Chepstow earlier this year. It looked like the handicapper had caught up with him last time at Exeter (2m7f). Remains off the same mark so he does need to produce more.

Recorded back-to-back wins earlier this year. Was fancied to do well last time at Exeter (2m7f) but had to settle for fourth of 14 after going off as the 6/4 favourite. Blinkers are on for the first time. One to consider.

Has some consistent form over hurdles and fences this year without success. He had just one horse behind him last time in a 13 runner contest at Exeter (2m7f). Will need to produce more to get his first win of 2019.

A point-to-point winner who is 0-7 under Rules. He has not seen a track since finishing 12th of 18 at Ayr (3m½f) in April 2018. Has been eased 5lb by the handicapper. Best to watch on his return to action.

Still looking for his first success after eight appearances. He was eighth of 17 on his opening run for his new yard at Wincanton (2m5½f). Has gone down 3lb in the weights. Others make more of an appeal in this race.

Forecasts

I'd Better Go Now (11/4), Cracker Jak (7/2), Sandy Boy (9/2), Pontresina (9/1), Fontley House (12/1), Espalion (14/1), Forgetthesmalltalk (16/1), Saturdaynightfever (16/1), Bold Record (20/1), Max Forte (25/1), Muthabir (33/1), Ramore Will (33/1), Vlannon (50/1), Montys Angel (66/1)

Verdict

I'D BETTER GO NOW was staying on really strongly last time in his success at Wincanton so this step up in trip is likely to suit him so take the gelding to add to his recent victory here off this 7lb higher mark. Sandy Boy has been running consistently well all year and is unlikely to be far away on his return to this trip, while Pontresina has been going close to success recently but may have to settle for finishing in the frame again.
