Only win in 20 attempts came in February 2018 over 7f for Kevin Ryan. Has mainly struggled over last 12 months, including last three runs for Jamie Osborne, and makes debut for in-form yard off career low mark, dropping right back in trip.
Wolverhampton 5f juvenile winner in 2017. Missed 18 months but hasn't done badly this year and run with credit most starts. First-time hood applied and no surprise to see him very much in the mix again.
Landed York 6f h'cap last year off 82 but hasn't really been at his best this campaign. Dropped 3lb since last of 10 at Nottingham in heavy ground last time but return to this surface may aid his cause.
All three career wins have come here, two over 6f and one over C&D. Returns after six-month break and is 6lb higher than last winning mark so has a bit to prove and may be better for the outing.
Rattled off superb 6f five-timer betwen March and June this year. Hasn't really fired on all cylinders in two starts since summer break but given leeway by handicapper now. Has to prove herself at this minimum trip though.
Lightly raced Pontefract 2017 5f winner. Made promising start for new ayrd when second at 28/1 oher over 6f three weeks ago on first start for 16 months. Drops back in trip and every chance if he doesn't 'bounce'.
Stayed on well penultimate start to score by neck over C&D last month off 2lb lower and not disgraced last time at Chelmsford. Goes well here and enters calculations.
Failed by only half a length when close third over C&D last time. Runs off same mark and won't be far away again as he bids for his 10th career victory.
Won over this trip at Ayr in June and at Wolverhampton last month off 5lb lower mark. Beaten just half a length when fifth in blanket finish at Wolverhampton last time and should again be in the shake-up.
Convincing C&D scorer in September off 8lb lower mark and has gone very close last two starts off just 1lb lower back at this venue. Due a change of luck and clearly enjoys himself here.
Seven-time turf winner but yet to reach a place in seven attempts on the AW. Not disgraced here over 6f last time but surprise if she's good enough dropping back in trip on this surface.
Forecasts
Jonboy (2/1), Commander Han (7/2), Be Proud (5/1), Gowanbuster (11/1), Big Les (14/1), Tathmeen (14/1), Followthesteps (16/1), Shepherd's Purse (18/1), Landing Night (25/1), Penny Pot Lane (33/1), Camachess (40/1)
A typically tight-knit sprint handicap, but given his two near misses here in recent starts maybe BE PROUD can get his head in front on this occasion and gain his revenge on Tathmeen. Jonboy did well when runner-up on his first start following a very long lay-off and is a danger if able to back that up, and both Landing Night and Shepherd's Purse are capable if things go their way. Any support for Commander Han, making his debut for Stuart Williams and dropping back in trip, or Gowanbuster, would be worth checking out.
- Be Proud
- Jonboy
- Landing Night
