Useful sort across both codes during the summer and backed that up with ready success at Wetherby (2m) in October. Not beaten far in Listed contest at that track since and has leading claims despite shouldering penalty.

Horse silk
7/1
Well-beaten into third on hurdles debut but bettered that significantly with 2L success at Musselburgh (2m) earlier this month. Form of that is untested but replication of effort should see him go close.
3
Horse silk
28/1
Encouraging second behind Maria Magadelena on hurdles debut before flopping when beaten 34L behind George Risdale at Musselbrugh last time out. More needed to reverse form with both rivals.

Well-beaten on the flat for Charles Hills and looked to be struggling when falling two from home behind Maria Magadelena at Wetherby (2m) in October. Remains an unknown prospect at this level.

Age: 3|  Weight: 10-12| J: C Gethings| T: Mrs S Leech
50/1
Culminated stint on the flat with victory at Windsor and jumping let him down on hurdles debut when beaten 34L at Huntingdon (2m) this month. That must improve to be competitive.
6
Horse silk
66/1
Modest to poor performer on the flat, with best effort coming when fourth in 6f novice at this track last September. Raced between 6f-1m on the level and breeding doesn't give confidence he will take to jumping.

100/1
Finished flat career with 4L third over 1m6f here last month but offered next to nothing when beaten behind 80/1 shock winner at Sedgefield (2m) this month. Step up required.

Hasankey114
Age: 3|  Weight: 10-12| J: R D Day| T: Laura Morgan
12/1
Fairly useful handicapper in Ireland without winning and finished career with Dermot Weld with 15L third in strong-looking Galway maiden (1m4f) in July. Worth a betting check on hurdles/yard debut.

Karashenip16
Age: 3|  Weight: 10-12| J: Callum Bewley| T: I Jardine
50/1
Flattered in finishing third behind smart prospect at Sedgefield (2m) before beaten 37L behind George Risdale at Musselburgh earlier this month. Rival should have his measure once again.

Age: 3|  Weight: 10-12| J: Harry Bannister| T: M Scudamore
10/1
Cape Cross colt. Unraced on the flat for Sir Michael Stoute but ran a fine race on debut to finish 2L third in Exeter bumper (2m) last month. Could be one to watch on hurdles debut.

Horse silk
Neileta15
Age: 3|  Weight: 10-12| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: T D Easterby
50/1
Wasn't a lot to shout about on hurdles debut at Wetherby and showed little improvement when 19L fifth at Sedgefield (2m1f) earlier this month. Other rivals make more appeal.

Rusper's Gift34

Failed to win on the flat but finished in that sphere with best performance when 2L third in 1m1f Wolverhampton handicap. Yard's form with hurdlers is a relative unknown. Market should guide.
13
Horse silk
6/4
Useful performer in Ireland and culminated stint with Ger Lyons with maiden success at Roscommon in August (1m2f). Now with a powerful yard and their debutantes always command respect.

Uncle Norman21
Age: 3|  Weight: 10-12| J: Danny Cook| T: T D Easterby
33/1
Flattered in third when comprehensively beaten by Maria Magdalena at Wetherby and regressed when 36L last of nine in Listed juvenile hurdle at that track (2m) last time. Plenty to find on ratings.
15
Horse silk
25/1
Failed to win on the flat but shaped encouragingly on last two starts, including 4L fourth at Carlisle (1m1f) in August. Bought by this yard with hurdling in mind so not to be discounted.
16
Horse silk
100/1
Well-held on all seven starts on the flat, culminating with 22L defeat in 1m2f Chepstow handicap. Tough ask against the boys on hurdles debut.

Forecasts

Scorched Earth (6/4), Maria Magdalena (85/40), George Ridsdale (7/1), Mr Chua (10/1), Hasankey (12/1), Artistic Streak (25/1), Rusper's Gift (25/1), Burnage Boy (28/1), Uncle Norman (33/1), Dawn Treader (50/1), Karasheni (50/1), Neileta (50/1), Cool Possibility (66/1), Dragons Will Rise (66/1), Fasterkhani (100/1), Lucky Circle (100/1)

Verdict

A race which looks like it could be between the top two, preference is for top weight MARIA MAGADELENA. She already has registered some black-type when not beaten far in a usually informative Listed contest and despite shouldering a penalty, her form sets a high standard for this level. George Ridsdale is weighted to go better than her, however he still lacked fluency and edged left when winning. Mr Chua took the eye on his debut and could be dangerous to ignore on his hurdles debut given that effort, while Scorched Earth could also be anything over timber.
  1. Maria Magdalena
  2. George Ridsdale
  3. Mr Chua
