Not the easiest to predict but had yet to be asked for an effort when unseating rider three out on Plumpton return and others may have more scope to progress.
Consistent type last term at around this trip including a win here in January and other placed efforts at the track. Rare below par run when last seen in May but returns now from a break.
Two hurdle wins were gained in 2017 and won a novice chase in the summer. Has since been sold by Nicky Henderson for £16,000 and new trainer yet to get off the mark from eight runners.
Won a weak contest here in the spring and first impressions were his comeback fourth at Worcester last month was disappointing, but the first two home have both won since and gives impression return to right-handed track here will be in his favour.
Front-runner who won a pair of weak contests last term. Probably needed comeback run when dropping out tamely at Market Rasen last month and could improve with that run under his belt.
Pair of good ground wins at this trip last season when trained by David Arbuthnot and improved again on reappearance for current trainer this term. Almost certainly found heavy ground too demanding last time will be happier back on this ground.
A couple of minor wins last season but ran just as well in defeat when sixth of 21 in valuable handicap at Cheltenham in March. Lost a shoe on Chepstow comeback when well beaten but will strip fitter though has to prove his stamina.
Vastly improved when last seen when bolting up over C&D in March. Beat Storm Arising 13L on that occasion and they meet on the same terms here so possible the handicapper has let him in lightly for this handicap debut.
Developed a consistent profile last season including small field Doncaster win. First outing here since unseating rider at Cheltenham in April but if fit to go shouldn't be underestimated.
Off the track for three years prior to trying his hand hurdling and followed up Bangor second with a facile win at Market Rasen in the summer. Interesting that top connections send him handicapping now and just possible he may have got in lightly.
Consistent front-runner who showed his liking for a return to this trip when making all on first run for this yard at Taunton last month. May not get all his own way here and this a much hotter contest.
Showed plenty of improvement for wind improvement when second in bunch finish on comeback run here over slightly further. Possibly more to come but this demands more as a stronger contest.
Better known as a chaser and first run over hurdles since February 2018. Fitness should be guaranteed as was well backed ante-post for intended race which was abandoned at Cheltenham last week and interesting if money comes for him.
Forecasts
Gunnery (10/3), Midnight Midge (9/2), Jaytrack Parkhomes (7/1), Storm Arising (7/1), Umndeni (8/1), Doitforthevillage (9/1), Hey Bud (12/1), Myplaceatmidnight (16/1), Neverbeen To Paris (16/1), Storm Goddess (20/1), Praeceps (20/1), Sir Ivan (28/1), Tales Of The Tweed (100/1)
GUNNERY won'y have been easy for the handicapper to assess but it's possible he may have got in lightly for his handicap debut and with improvement to come in this sphere, he is taken to get the better of Hey Bud, another who could be well treated. Praeceps is better than shown on comeback and if he stays this trip could make the frame.
- Gunnery
- Hey Bud
- Praeceps
