Ladbrokes Home Of The Odds Boost EBF Maiden Stakes (Plus 10)

Off time: 14:29 | Winning time: 2m 11.23s

(5)

Allerthorpe^t²⁰

Age: 2| Weight: 9-5| J: Connor Murtagh⁽³⁾| T: B Rothwell

250/1

Couldn't get involved on debut over 1m at this track at the start of the month. This looks a stronger race on paper, so another quiet showing looks to be in the offing. Best watched.

Form: 0

(3)

Clever Trick¹⁰⁵

Age: 2| Weight: 9-5| J: T Eaves| T: K A Ryan

150/1

Not seen for 105 days when he finished last of 10 at Haydock (7f; good to firm) on debut. Stable are struggling for winners at the moment, and he is best left alone after that quiet debut effort.

Form: 0

(10)

English King²⁹

Age: 2| Weight: 9-5| J: Tom Marquand| T: E Walker

13/2

Not disgraced on debut when seventh at Newmarket (1m; soft) last month. With that experience on his side, and the fact he is related to a couple of smart sorts, it would be a surprise were he not able to fare more competitively.

Form: 7

(8)

Galsworthy²⁹

Age: 2| Weight: 9-5| J: N Mackay| T: J & T Gosden| BF

9/4

Arrives here with solid credentials given how well his trainers horses tend to run at this track. Well-bred son of Dansili made an encouraging start to life when runner-up on debut. Greatly feared on that form, and should go extremely close.

Form: 2

(11)

Night Bear

Age: 2| Weight: 9-5| J: P Mulrennan| T: E F Vaughan

50/1

Dragon Pulse colt out of a Dansant mare. Yard/jockey combo could be in better form. Must be respected though given his trainer holds a 33% (5-15) strike-rate at this track.

Form:

(1)

Spanish Persuader¹⁵

Age: 2| Weight: 9-5| J: J Fanning| T: C & M Johnston

33/1

No chance with the winner when runner-up at Nottingham (1m; heavy) last time. That was still a step up from his debut effort, and he has a solid each-way chance on the basis of that form.

Form: 72

(4)

Sun Cuisine^b⁸²

Age: 2| Weight: 9-5| J: K Stott| T: C Appleby

6/1

Not beaten far into third on AW debut at Chelmsford (1m; standard) in August. Second has since franked that form when winning easily over C&D. Will need to take another step forward, but still possesses plenty of potential.

Form: 43

(6)

Three Dragons⁴⁵

Age: 2| Weight: 9-5| J: A Mullen| T: B Haslam

125/1

Shown glimmers of promise on both starts to date, most recently when third behind a smart Godolphin sort (sent off 1-6f) over C&D last month. Won't be disgraced in this, but looks more of a handicap project.

Form: 63

(13)

Waleydd²⁷

Age: 2| Weight: 9-5| J: J Mitchell| T: R Varian

11/10

Only beaten a head on debut in a novice stakes which looked a good quality contest at Newbury (1m; heavy). Now steps up in trip on AW bow. Looks to hold a very strong chance as he bids to get off the mark at the second attempt.

Form: 2

(14)

You Owe Me¹³

Age: 2| Weight: 9-5| J: Jason Hart| T: C & M Johnston

66/1

Bit inexperienced on debut at Chelmsford (1m; standard) when posting a quiet effort in midfield. Should improve from that quite a bit as he steps up to 1m2f. Not ruled out in an open contest for these respected connections.

Form: 8

(12)

Despoina⁵⁷

Age: 2| Weight: 9-0| J: G Lee| T: Jedd O'Keeffe

33/1

Steps up 2f in trip after finishing fourth over 1m at this track on debut. That was a decent contest, but this looks more competitive. Unlikely to trouble the main players, and is one to oppose for the time being.

Form: 4

(2)

Fiannoglaigh⁴¹

Age: 2| Weight: 9-0| J: Cam Hardie| T: R Menzies

250/1

Tailed off on both starts to date in a pair of novice auction stakes contests. Likely to improve once sent handicapping and she is subsequently impossible to fancy in this stronger contest.

Form: 00

Non-Runners

(7)

Sir Dandy¹⁶

Weight: 9-5| Age: 2

T: L Wadham J: Non Runner

(9)

Tindrum¹⁵

Weight: 9-5| Age: 2

T: H Main J: Non Runner

Forecasts

Waleydd (11/10), Galsworthy (9/4), Sun Cuisine (6/1), English King (13/2), Spanish Persuader (33/1), Despoina (33/1), Night Bear (50/1), Sir Dandy (50/1), You Owe Me (66/1), Tindrum (66/1), Three Dragons (125/1), Clever Trick (150/1), Allerthorpe (250/1), Fiannoglaigh (250/1)

A good turnout for this maiden, with a whole host of top Newmarket stables represented, which guarantees a competitive affair. You Owe Me is likely to step forward from his debut effort as his stablemate Spanish Persauder did recently, and that pair have place claims, as does English King who finished in midfield on debut in a Newmarket maiden. Sun Cuisine is yet to live up to his $1,300,000 yearling price tag but should be thereabouts on the basis of his form so far. For win purposes this looks best left to WALEYDD and Galsworthy who both went awfully close to making winning debuts. The former is preferred as his form looks that bit stronger.
