Became rather disappointing over hurdles and didn't really look as though he was going to return to winning ways when making his chase debut last time. Proved very hard work without his usual headgear (back on here); one to handle with care.
Won a novice hurdle last year (second start) over 2m1f; unable to defy a penalty after that in novice company. Produced a promising first effort over fences (looks better in this sphere), lack of an outing just telling late on; major player.
Took his first four Rules starts (one bumper/three hurdles) but rather lost his way over obstacles after that. Only took a small step back in the right direction last time when sent chasing after six months off (well backed); mark continues to fall.
Picked up where he left off over hurdles when sent chasing making light of an absence and a 10lb higher mark to run out a comfortable winner at Hereford over 2m4f. Up a further 6lb but expected to cope with the promise of more to come.

Clondaw Anchor (1/1), Cuban Pete (11/4), Sackett (11/4), Court Liability (7/2), Sussex Ranger (10/1)
The Venetia Williams yard look as though they are about to light the blur touch paper with most of the stables horses running well at the moment. CUBAN PETE turned in an excellent debut at Hereford and despite a 6lb rise he’s still unexposed in this sphere with the promise of far more to come; conditions shouldn’t be a problem. The weight that he receives from a similar type in Clondaw Anchor just tips the scales in his favour although Dan Skelton’s charge is another with plenty to offer in this sphere. Sackett should run his usual genuine race but has a tough task on from his mark despite the fact that he likely to get the run of the race.
- Cuban Pete
- Clondaw Anchor
- Sackett
