Emphatic C&D winner in the summer gained third win in five starts with 6f score at Catterick latest. In terrific form so even another hike in the weights not enough to temper enthusiasm.

Finally got off the mark at Yarmouth in the summer but record now 1-18 after three subsequent unplaced efforts. Others again preferred.

Often saves best form for Lingfield and just touched off there two starts back before less inspiring run at Kempton more recently. Well handicapped on old form.

C&D novice winner here lightly raced since but ran with promise when fourth at Kempton last time after a break. More to come now and hood may also sharpen her up so highly respected for shrewd team.

Dual course winner but losses stacking up now and even after a fair fourth at Kempton latest he is one of the less appealing options.

Not won since two-year-old days but latest fifth on stable debut after over 200 days off gives new yard a solid foundation to build on; possibilities now.

Winner of a Leicester seller but run two dismal races for new yard which does so well usually with new recruits. Can't fancy at present.

Came good on heavy ground at Carlisle last time out, the addition of a hood (retained here) seemingly doing the trick. 2lb rise for that is fair, but he does have to prove himself on AW (0-2 so far).

All out to win by a head here latest over 6f; a seventh AW score. 3lb rise not unfair by any means but concern remains that he's never won beyond 6f.

7f turf winner again showed liking for this specialist trip latest when second over C&D which was his best effort since that aforementioned win. 1lb rise by the handicapper not enough to change view that he's a genuine contender.

Gained second win this season latest; quite remarkable given he went nearly five years winless beforehand. Whether this revised mark is now within range has to be questionable.

Ran two poor races really since her August win here with last of 12 seven weeks ago particularly concerning. Risky proposition.

Had proved to be a frustrating sort but belatedly off the mark at the 14th attempt with game success in 7f Wolverhampton handicap in September. Fifth at Kempton since off higher mark and cheekpieces now added in hope of better.

Uber-consistent three-time C&D winner was second at Kempton two starts back off this mark and there is no reason to believe she won't go well again here.

Forecasts

Broughtons Flare (11/4), Glory of Paris (6/1), Daring Venture (6/1), Fighting Temeraire (8/1), Captain Dion (9/1), Born To Finish (10/1), Al Asef (12/1), Secondo (12/1), Knowing Glance (16/1), Sonnet Rose (16/1), Fantastic Flyer (16/1), Black Isle Boy (16/1), Strawberry Jack (20/1), Redemptive (25/1), Forseti (25/1), Blessed To Empress (25/1)

Verdict

Few of these appeal as well handicapped or open to a great deal of improvement but one who could tick both boxes is the Roger Varian trained DARING VENTURE who ran a race full of promise on return latest; her only previous win came over C&D too. In current form Captain Dion has to be a big player with his score at Catterick last time all the more impressive given he's probably better still over this trip. Also on the shortlist is Broughtons Flare who was a close second over C&D latest.
  1. Daring Venture
