Not the easiest to weigh up with his win coming in a three-runner soft ground 5f affair that fell apart. Upped in trip to 6f when last seen he finished well beaten on handicap debut. Now tries Fibresand with a tongue tie fitted for the first time.

Beaten less than 1L on nursery debut at Chester (5f) but below market expectations when third of 9 to Get Boosting in similar affair at Wolverhampton last time. Gives impression he will prove better over this trip, so worth persevering with.

In the frame on first four starts at up to 7½f, but soundly beaten on nursery debut at Chester in September. Possible to attribute that to heavy ground, but bit to prove having dropped just 1lb for that effort.

Best form when placed twice on a sound surface at Windsor in the summer. Not progressed since, but ran creditably when runner-up in a Pontefract maiden last time, and front-running style should keep him out of the kickback.

Won at Salisbury, but form has regressed with each of three starts in nursery company, and needs to have improved for a recent gelding operation.

Beverley winner in April, and ran respectably when second in a 6f nursery at Catterick on penultimate start. No chance in Super Sprint at Newbury last time, and not dismissed if she's ready after a break.

Belatedly built on a promising Hamilton debut when winning a novice over C&D last time by 3L from Quaint. Drawn wide for repeat bid, but plenty to recommend her otherwise on this handicap bow.

Best efforts have come when in the frame in 6f novice events at Yamouth on contrasting ground. Filly who beat her last time was placed in Listed company subsequently, and she has a fair chance if adapting to new surface.

Won twice on turf in June, but her form in nurseries for Mick Channon is just fair, and her progress has stalled. Makes debut for new yard here, but others more convincing.

Placed twice before showing further improvement to win a 5f nursery here last time by ¾L from Astrozone. Equally effective at this trip, and merits consideration after a 4lb rise.

Won a novice stakes at Thirsk (6f, good to soft) in June but not been able to get her head in front in five starts since, and while she had generally been running with credit, her latest effort was disappointing.

Abbaleka13

Has improved a little for switch to nursery company of late, and produced her best effort when third of 8 to Lilkian in a 5f nursery here last time. Wide draw no issue, and return to 6f should be in her favour.

Third in a Carlisle nursery in August over this trip, but just respectable efforts in similar company since, and he needs to raise his game a little to go close in this competitive affair.

Well bred, but has proven to be a disappointment in three qualifying runs, and while gelding might help him do better, he's very hard to support on racecourse evidence.

Forecasts

Dark Regard (9/4), Lilkian (9/2), Hot Heels (13/2), Good Earth (15/2), We're Reunited (8/1), Little Ted (8/1), Abbaleka (16/1), Wentworth Amigo (16/1), Baileys In Bloom (20/1), Vintage Polly (20/1), Go Well Spicy (33/1), Havana Dawn (40/1), Bal Mal (50/1), Dark Optimist (66/1)

Verdict

It wasn't the strongest novice that DARK REGARD won over C&D last time, but she did it with a fair bit in hand, and can improve enough to take the beating on her nursery bow. Hot Heels is likely to find this trip more to his liking than 5f, and should be competitive, as should Abbaleka for similar reasons. Baileys In Bloom has been off since the Super Sprint at Newbury in the summer, but would have a chance if fully wound up.
