A point-to-point winner who scored last time out at Taylorstown (3m) in an impressive 8L success on what was the third start on his career. Set for his his debut here under Rules on his opening run for his new yard. One for the shortlist.

Finished eighth of 13 on his debut at Warwick (2m) back in May. He was prominent for large stages of the race but was one-paced at the finish. Likely to improve on his second start so he is worth respecting.

5/6
Prevailed in impressive fashion on his opening appearance in a point-to-point at Portrush (3m), scoring by 6L after going off as the 3/1 favourite. Was sold for £200,000 earlier this year. Looks smart so a big run can be expected here.
Oscar gelding who cost €60,000 as a three-year-old. His dam was a winner on the Flat at trips up to 1m6f. He is a brother to Draycott Place who stayed up to 3m over hurdles and fences. One to watch on his opening start.
Mahler gelding who cost £25,000 as a three-year-old. His dam was unraced on the track. He is a brother to useful chaser Home Place. Not one that leaps off the page but is worth noting if there is market confidence behind him.
Westerner gelding who cost €32,000 as a three-year-old. He is a half-brother to bumper winner Mere Anarchy and useful hurdler and chaser Mrs Peachey. Interesting newcomer who is worth considering on his first run.

Kayf Tara filly whose dam was a winner in a 3m chase. She is a sister to modest hurdler Kayflin who appeared at trips up to 2m1f. Will wear a hood on her debut. Likely to be better once she steps up in distance and jumps obstacles.

Forecasts

Grandads Cottage (5/6), Presuming Ed (6/1), Cremant (7/1), Elleon (15/2), Oneupmanship (8/1), My Last Oscar (14/1), Fou Detoi (33/1), Flintara (40/1)

Verdict

GRANDADS COTTAGE has appeared just once which was in a point-to-point where he was successful as Portrush. He has since been sold for a pricey figure so a big performance can be expected on his debut under Rules where he is the selection in this bumper. Presuming Ed is the standout newcomer in the contest and it would be no surprise to see him in the mix at the finish, while Cremant is a point-to-point winner who is likely to perform well on his debut under Rules so is worth including in your calculations.
  1. Grandads Cottage
  2. Presuming Ed
  3. Cremant
