Showed some fair form over hurdles but has yet to win under Rules (finished alone when winning Irish point-to-point). Mixed bag of performances over fences (below-par when last seen); plenty of questions to answer on his return.

Very useful chaser in his pomp (rated as high as 135); gradually on the downgrade since then although has experienced a renaissance of late for this yard. Caught the eye under tender handling last time over an inadequate trip; well handicapped now.

Useful sort when with Jack Barber but rather lost his way after wind surgery and hasn't shown anything in two starts for this yard. Failed to complete in three of his last four chase starts; difficult to give him anything but a very slim chance here.

Form can be more out than in; hard to fault his Newton Abbot win in August although that was aided by a break/reduced mark (stable in good form at the time). Reported to have bled when well beaten over C&D last time; tough to assess currently.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-5| J: Jordan Nailor(7)| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR:  98
9/2
Returns to his original yard having shown some fair hurdles form on his first sojourn with them. Didn't fare too badly over fences earlier in the year; of interest now for a yard that amongst the winners off a mark that should allow him to thrive.

Justified support on his first run back from a wind op to score at Huntingdon (came from off the pace). Since then laboured efforts have been to the fore for the most part especially when returning from a break last time; progress needed.

Age: 12|  Weight: 10-0| J: Patrick Cowley(5)| T: J R Cornwall| OR:  66| D
100/1
Not the most straightforward (has his fair amount of temperament) and also has to cope with being 13lb out of the weights. Very much gone the wrong way since his Huntingdon win earlier in the year; hard to see him making much of an impact.

Forecasts

Very First Time (8/11), Sartene's Son (9/2), Overworkdunderpaid (6/1), Arthur's Reuben (8/1), Royale Django (14/1), King Calvin (40/1), The Jugopolist (100/1)

Verdict

Like the other chase on the card this one lacks any strength in depth and it looks as though Dan Skelton has found a good opportunity for VERY FIRST TIME after his close-up third last time out when he finished with running left. He looks very much the pick of the weights with dangers thin on the ground. Sartene’s Son now back with Nigel Twiston-Davies can’t be ignored with that yard still in good form with Royale Django another to note; he might be best caught fresh with his latest win coming after a three month break.
  1. Very First Time
  2. Sartene's Son
  3. Royale Django
