Roycano48
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-11| J: Harry Bannister| T: M & D Easterby| OR:  117
18/1
14lb higher than when winning at Fakenham (2m7½f, good to soft) in February 2016; fairly lightly raced since (just six starts); consult the market for any necessary clues.
2
Horse silk
Nicely Indeedp25
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-10| J: Thomas Dowson| T: P A Kirby| OR:  116| CD
25/1
Won back-to-back races here last winter (2m4f-2m5f, soft); is easing slowly in the weights following a couple of modest recent efforts, but still sits 7lb above his last winning mark.
3
Horse silk
Iolanit21
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-8| J: Danny McMenamin(5)| T: Mrs Dianne Sayer| OR:  114| CD
11/2
Dual course winner (October 2018); 6lb higher than when hanging on determinedly to fend off the rallying Romeo Brown at Carlisle (2m4f, soft) on his penultimate start.
4
Horse silk
Ask Paddingtonh28
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-8| J: Alain Cawley| T: Micky Hammond| OR:  114| C
7/1
In the thick of the action until weakening late on seasonal reappearance at Carlisle (2m4f, soft) four weeks ago; twice a winner over 2m5f (including here); stable among the winners lately; no back number.
5
Horse silk
Cousin Oscart43
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-7| J: Theo Gillard(7)| T: D McCain Jnr| OR:  113
14/1
Beaten by stablemate Prince Khurram on seasonal reappearance at Bangor (2m1f, soft); the body of evidence strongly suggests that the handicapper has his measure.
6
Horse silk
Glorious Lady25
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-7| J: Craig Nichol| T: K Dalgleish| OR:  113
3/1
Bumper and maiden hurdle winner; consistent this autumn for Keith Dalgleish; shouldn't be crabbed for finding Snookered stronger (by 8L) on handicap debut over C&D 25 days ago; retains potential in handicap company.
7
Horse silk
Kingrullah25
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-6| J: Henry Brooke| T: Miss P Robson| OR:  112| C
9/2
Lightly raced and is clearly improving with experience over hurdles; stayed on strongly when beating Yes No Maybe So (in the same ownership as Glorious Lady) by 3¾L in a 2m1f maiden hurdle here (soft) 25 days ago; new trip on handicap debut.
8
Horse silk
Brotherly Companyt176
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-6| J: Danny Cook| T: Miss J E Foster| OR:  112
40/1
Hasn't seen much racing during the course of 2019, and much of his best form has come on the Fibresand at Southwell (Flat); tongue-tie now applied; other days ahead.
9
Horse silk
Trongate33
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-6| J: Ross Chapman| T: D Bourke| OR:  112| D
11/1
Didn't show much in the way of promise in Ireland for P.M.Cloke (0-3); returns to these shores (formerly a fair chaser for Iain Jardine) over hurdles for Daragh Burke; only of any interest if the market speaks positively.
10
Horse silk
Outcrop24
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-3| J: Sean Quinlan| T: J Candlish| OR:  109| BF| C
15/2
8lb higher than when beating Millie The Minx by 1¾L over 2m1f here (good) last November; shares a recent form line with Cousin Oscar (Bangor); place prospects appear most realistic.
11
Horse silk
Near Ketteringt12
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-0| J: Jonathan England| T: S England| OR:  106| C
14/1
Landed a gamble when scoring on the Flat at Thirsk (1m4f, soft) in August, swiftly following up over hurdles here (2m1f, good) a couple of weeks later; less effective since, owing largely to a 10lb weights rise.

Forecasts

Glorious Lady (3/1), Kingrullah (9/2), Iolani (11/2), Ask Paddington (7/1), Outcrop (15/2), Trongate (11/1), Cousin Oscar (14/1), Near Kettering (14/1), Roycano (18/1), Nicely Indeed (25/1), Brotherly Company (40/1)

Verdict

KINGRULLAH is a fast improving four-year-old, and it's entirely possible that the handicapper has underestimated his ability with an opening handicap mark of 112. Effective at this track (on soft ground) and with a pedigree stacked full of stamina, he should theoretically have precious little to fear from today's extra yardage. Of the remainder, a cautious approach is taken with Glorious Lady (retains potential) while Ask Paddington should strip fitter for his recent comeback run at Carlisle, and is considered no back number for an in-form handler.
  1. Kingrullah
  2. Glorious Lady
  3. Ask Paddington
