Smuggler's Stashv571
Age: 9|  Weight: 12-4| J: Theo Gillard(5)| T: R Dobbin| OR:  102| CD
11/1
Mudlark (and a C&D winner); returns to action from a 571-day absence (in-form trainer successfully brought Jonniesofa back from an even longer break last week); 2lb higher than when winning at Ayr (3m, soft) in March 2018.

Horse silk
The Boola Beeh22
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: Tom Buckley(3)| T: N J Hawke| OR:  96| D
10/3
Has risen steadily in the weights since winning back-to-back 3m races during May (Warwick and Perth); still in fine fettle though following a career best second at Wincanton (3m1f, good) three weeks ago; heavy ground is a concern.
3
Horse silk
Letemgo11
Age: 11|  Weight: 11-9| J: Bruce Lynn(3)| T: A B Hamilton| OR:  93| D
5/1
Rattled off a hat-trick at around this trip in soft ground early in 2018 (Kelso, Ayr and Carlisle), but recent efforts not so good; still early days post wind surgery (second start); worryingly for an 11yo is 0-8 over fences.
4
Horse silk
Square Viviani27
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-7| J: Billy Garritty(3)| T: Micky Hammond| OR:  91
11/2
Won three-times in France, including over hurdles (Pau) and fences (Pau/Auteuil); took a heavy fall when bang-in-contention over C&D in May (good to soft); is handily weighted and could strip fitter for a recent run; chance.
5
Horse silk
Mid Day Gunp,t197
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4| J: Ross Turner(3)| T: O Greenall & J Guerriero| OR:  88WS
4/1
Fired blanks over hurdles (0-10), although did run well at massive odds at Carlisle (3m1f, good to soft) in February; made a couple of mistakes when fourth of 12 on chasing debut at Warwick (3m) in April; now 3lb lower.
6
Horse silk
Arizona Bound33
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-10| J: Blair Campbell(3)| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| OR:  80| D
9/4
Difficult to win with (1-14 over fences); now rated 13lb lower than when finishing 3L second to The Horsechesnut over C&D (heavy) in March; largely poor since, but such is the fine form of the Russell yard one couldn't totally dismiss.

Forecasts

Arizona Bound (9/4), The Boola Bee (10/3), Mid Day Gun (4/1), Letemgo (5/1), Square Viviani (11/2), Smuggler's Stash (11/1)

Verdict

The Boola Bee is undoubtedly the form horse and that often counts for plenty, although you'd be foolish to rush in and take a short price about her given the prevailing underfoot conditions. The resurgence of the Rose Dobbin yard (obliterated by an unidentifiable virus last season) has been one of the most pleasing stories of the new jumps season, and she seeks to do a 'Jonniesofa' with the returning mudlark Smuggler's Stash. However, in a race which fails to capture the imagination as a betting heat, a few shekels are thrust in the direction of the nicely weighted SQUARE VIVIANI in the hope of an overdue return to form.
  1. Square Viviani
  2. The Boola Bee
  3. Smuggler's Stash
