Very little progress in four starts to date and showed no signs of that changing when eighth of 10 in 1m Wolverhampton novice in late October. Opposable in this but may be one for handicap company in the future.
Failed to beat many rivals in two starts to date, finishing tailed off on each occasion including at Redcar (7f) in September. Can't be fancied on any of that form.
Pivotal colt. Dam was unraced on track but by New Approach and produced four-time winner Due Process in her progeny. Pedigree is an unknown but notable if market support.
Le Havre colt. First progeny of dam who was a winner over 1m4f during her career. Pedigree is not much to shout about and likely to fare better over further.
Authorized colt. Showed inexperience on debut and hung badly to finish seventh at Bath (1m2f) last month. Drops back in trip but dangerous to ignore juvenile from this yard.
Camelot colt. Slow start on debut cost him when a never on terms ninth at Newmarket (1m, soft) in late October. Entitled to be more streetwise and from a powerful yard.
Encouraging fourth on debut at Yarmouth and bettered that when 2L third at Newbury (1m, heavy) last month. Improving sort and sets the form standard.
Tagula gelding. Pulled hard and weakened tamely at Leicester in August. Not seen since and tongue-tie goes on but difficult to fancy on that form.
Motivator colt. Made debut in hot-looking race at Newcastle (1m) when finishing a weakening seventh. Likely to be better than that in time.
Mukhadram gelding. Dam was hardy sort who managed to gain some black type between 1m2f-1m4f. First progeny but yard not known for juvenile winners.
Outstrip colt. Dam was a winner over 5f in France and is a half-brother to five-time jumps winner Tea In Transvaal. Of interest for in-form duo.
Forecasts
Mishriff (5/6), King's Castle (2/1), Justified (6/1), Spanish Persuader (14/1), Zero Limits (22/1), Donald Llewellyn (25/1), Dangeroffizz (50/1), Highfield Haven (50/1), Anno Lucis (80/1), Screeching Dragon (100/1), Tindrum (100/1)
A modest-looking maiden contest which could see MISHRIFF get off the mark at the third attempt. Despite being a beaten favourite last time out he made likeable progression and should be hard to beat subject to handling the ground conditions. Trainer Mark Johnston fires a duo in the race with Justified and Spanish Persuader, who both must improve from their debut efforts while King's Castle shouldn't be discounted as long as he breaks well.
- Mishriff
- Justified
- King's Castle
