Matchbook/Breeders Backing Racing EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes

Off time: 14:35 | Winning time: 1m 39.60s

(7)

Ardiente¹⁰⁸

Age: 3| Weight: 9-7| J: S Donohoe| T: E F Vaughan| C

8/13

Won on debut over 7f here in November, and progressed to finish 1¾L third of 7 to Whispering Beauty at Newmarket in July. Off since, but sets a lofty standard.

Form: 1-3

(8)

Al Daiha^h1³⁵⁵

Age: 3| Weight: 9-0| J: Tom Marquand| T: E Walker

10/1

Not seen since finishing tenth of 13 to Lady Adelaide in a C&D novice just under a year ago, and needs to find plenty of improvement in a first-time hood.

Form: 0-

(4)

Anything For You²⁶

Age: 3| Weight: 9-0| J: Rob Hornby| T: J G Portman

25/1

Has shown a modicum of ability in two AW starts to date, although failed to improve on debut form when down the field over 1m3f here last month.

Form: 70

(3)

Delcia³⁷³

Age: 3| Weight: 9-0| J: Charles Bishop| T: Miss E C Lavelle

40/1

Homebred filly who showed only a little in two starts for Simon Dow, and has plenty to find on debut for new yard (same owner). Type to do better when handicapping, perhaps.

Form: 00-

(5)

Levanter³⁵

Age: 3| Weight: 9-0| J: Harry Bentley| T: H J L Dunlop

5/1

Improved on her modest turf debut when third of 11 to Mac Jetes in a 1m½f novice at Wolverhampton last time. Still showed signs of inexperience there, and holds solid place claims.

Form: 83

(1)

Mahuika

Age: 3| Weight: 9-0| J: H Crouch| T: J Gallagher

66/1

Homebred half-sister to fairly useful sprinter Ladweb out of a three-time turf winner at up to 6f. Bit of a worry she's starting off at a mile given her speedy pedigree, and unlikely to get involved.

Form:

(2)

Miss Ditsy⁴⁹

Age: 3| Weight: 9-0| J: R Havlin| T: M J Attwater

100/1

Related to winners, but has shown very little in two previous outings. Unlikely to trouble the judge on evidence to date.

Form: 78

(6)

Perfect Winter

Age: 3| Weight: 9-0| J: Callum Shepherd| T: S bin Suroor

11/4

By Invincible Spirit out of a mare who was placed in a German Group 3 over 1m3f. Likely to know her job on debut, and should be involved given uncompetitive nature of this contest.

Form:

Forecasts

Ardiente (8/13), Perfect Winter (11/4), Levanter (5/1), Al Daiha (10/1), Anything For You (25/1), Delcia (40/1), Mahuika (66/1), Miss Ditsy (100/1)

ARDIENTE sets a lofty standard for a race of this nature, and unless the Godolphin newcomer Perfect Winter is something out of the ordinary, she should be too good. Levanter is improving, and should reward each-way support in a race which lacks much obvious depth.
