£37,000 purchase after winning Irish maiden point on debut in October 2018. In touch when fell 3 out on Rules bow at Wetherby in February and hasn't cut much ice in two starts since. Probably better for recent run though and makes handicap bow.
Maiden between the flags and under Rules. Finished third in Sedgefield 2m4f novice hurdle in spring 2018 then had wind surgery. Two poor efforts last winter and is hard to fancy on handicap bow stepping up in trip. Tongue-tie now applied.
Landed 3m2f Newton Abbot h'cap hurdle off mark of 99 in July 2018 for Neil King. Long absence prior to running well enough for a long way over C&D last month before getting tired. Eased 3lb and should strip fitter now.
On a roll at present with wins at Uttoxeter and over C&D last time where he battled home to score by a short-head. 6lb rise makes life much tougher but should give another good account of himself.
Yet to reach a place in six starts over variety of trips and connections reach for first-time cheekpieces here. Appeared not to stay on first try over C&D last time when long last of 10 and hard to fancy despite 5lb lower mark.
13-race ex-Irish maiden who appeared to run her best race yet when stepped up to close to this trip last time at Hexham last time, finishing second. Up 2lb but extra furlong or so may help her cause.
Landed 3m h'cap chase at Market Rasen in January and was last successful over timber at Southwell in February 2018. Into veteran stage now but stays well. Profile suggests he'll improve for this seasonal reappearance.
Beaten 43 lengths and more in all four outings in novice hurdles so far over a variety of trips. Steps up more than a mile on first start of campaign and makes handicap bow off lowly mark.
Only win in 15 attempts came in 2m Worcester novice hurdle in summer 2017 for Charlie Longsdon. Runs off 18lb lower mark than last hurdles outing here in May when well beaten over 2m. Stamina to prove and races from 5lb wrong at the weights.
Forecasts
Jimmi Chew (6/4), Peter's Portrait (5/1), Our Nest Egg (6/1), Out The Glen (13/2), Mamoo (15/2), Parsonal (11/1), Dorado Dollar (33/1), Jacobite Rising (33/1), Houndscourt (40/1)
Most of these are struggling for form or are returning from their summer break, but Jimmy Chew has being doing well of late and will make a bold bid for the hat-trick. He may just have to give best though to MAMOO who shaped with promise on his debut here for his new yard last time before getting tired. He'll strip fitter now and can step up to the plate. Top weight Peter's Portrait wouldn't have to be a superstar to make his presence felt on handicap bow but he needs to get his act together, while Our Nest Egg may be thereabouts and should appreciate the extra yardage after staying-on at Hexham last time.
- Mamoo
- Jimmi Chew
- Our Nest Egg
