Smart hurdler on his day winning the 2018 Martin Pipe at the Festival before losing his way over fences for Gordon Elliott having won on his debut. Now with a new yard who have a very fair handicap to work with if they can turn him around.
Useful handicap hurdler (5-11 over timber) who comes here seeking a hat-trick having improved again after a five month break to win at Kelso making most. Up a further 5lb so will need to produce a career-best but hard to say he won't be able to.
Scored off the back of a wind op when taking a Bangor handicap hurdle last December backing that up a runner-up effort next time (caught close home). Well below-par when last seen at Aintree in April, still well handicapped on his chase form.
Tough performer over hurdles and on the Flat who is well suited by staying trips in both spheres. A winner in both disciplines in May/June she was far from disgraced over hurdles last time at Wetherby over 3m; will prove sharper now, shortlisted.
Did manage to over fences last season but wasn't totally convincing with his jumping and its not a surprise to see him returned to hurdle for his comeback start. Beaten off marks like this over hurdles before, so others higher in the pecking order.
Not the most straightforward of customers; showed his better side when winning twice earlier in the year (showed more resolution that runner-up for second win). Failed to cope with this mark when running poorly last time; returns with yard in form.
Dual novice hurdle winner early in his career before hitting a lull once he entered handicaps. Slightly fortunate to get back on the up when taking an Ayr handicap in March (left clear at last) to beat Eternally Yours 5L; still an unexposed sort.
Improving sort who acquitted herself well last year her best performance coming when taking a Newcastle handicap admittedly off a much lower mark. Raised 11lb for that win she went down 5L to Crixus's Escape at Ayr; remains unexposed, one to note.
Like most from this yard this dual course winner needed the outing on his first start of the season fading away in the closing stages on his return. Runner-up in handicaps three times last year, the handicapper looks in control with the yard quiet.
Forecasts
Aye Right (2/1), Eternally Yours (7/2), Crixus's Escape (13/2), Bordeaux Bill (8/1), Piton Pete (9/1), Silva Eclipse (10/1), Becky The Thatcher (14/1), Knock House (25/1), Blow By Blow (25/1)
The very likeable AYE RIGHT comes into this race having made a very satisfactory return to action showing a good attitude when making all at Kelso and similar tactics could well pay off here although he won’t have the champion jockey in the saddle this time. Bordeaux Bill has his quirks but with his stable in good form he’s hard to ignore dropping back in trip whilst Crixus’s Escape and Eternally Yours renew their rivalry with the latter the better off at the weights this time. Becky The Thatcher like the selection has a very willing attitude and she’ll be sharper for her recent Wetherby return although her stable could be in better form, that would have increased confidence.
- Aye Right
- Becky The Thatcher
- Eternally Yours
