9/2
Produced a clear best effort from four starts when winning on soft ground over this C&D. Struggled in handicap company on better ground latest but a return to a testing surface and this company could see him back to form.

25/1
Produced a much improved effort on soft ground on his second start over 6f, showing early pace. Much more needed again but the drop in trip rates a positive.

Outran odds of 150/1 when a 5L second over 6f at Ripon on his second start. Open to more progress but this is tougher again and the he was keeping on as though he needs further and not this drop in trip.

Beaten a combined total of 39L in both starts to date. Sent off 66/1 on both occasions and hard to fancy once again.

Well beaten in two poor efforts to date over a furlong further. Struggled to go the pace both times and remains easy to overlook.

Ran a neck second over 6f on debut in what was a good effort for this level. That was on quick ground and he seemed less suited by soft and 5f subsequently. Still one to consider.

Some moderate promise on debut over 6f here when not seeing out the trip. Drop in distance a plus and should come on for the run but still needs to find big progress.

Jean Mary

66/1
Daughter of Cityscape and a third foal out of a hurdle winner. Stable among the winners but she'll need much further in time and one to watch on debut.

Kodiac filly fetched £110,000 as a yearling; first foal out of a dam who won a US Grade 3 and is a half-sister to 5f Group 1 winner Mabs Cross. Stable's runners tend to improve for the run but an interesting pedigree and one to note in the betting.

11/10
Has racked up five seconds and a third from eight starts with her other two being good efforts in Group 2 and Listed company. An official rating of 91 sets a high standard but concern her latest second was disappointing as she was very well in.

Hampered early on debut and never got going. But ultimately was beaten 28L and sent off at odds of 33/1. Best watched for now.

Forecasts

Mighty Spirit (11/10), The Bell Conductor (9/4), Rapid Russo (9/2), Intrinsic Bond (16/1), Marina Grove (22/1), Clotherholme (25/1), Staxton Hill (28/1), Where's Mick (50/1), Jean Mary (66/1), Pronghorn (100/1), The Last Bow (150/1)

Verdict

Mighty Spirit really should be winning a race by now and on the figures has another clear opportunity but she could be risky at short odds again particularly on ground this testing. RAPID RUSSO has shown a clear preference so far for soft ground and he could be the one to really kick on in these conditions. Marina Grove is the pick of the debutantes and one to note for market moves.
  1. Rapid Russo
  2. Mighty Spirit
  3. Marina Grove
