Debuts in a nursery after three modest efforts up to press; breeding suggests a longer trip will suit next year but an opening mark of 60 isn't insurmountable. Others have looked more suited to sprint distances so far.
Good effort when second on nursery debut at Newcastle earlier in the month puts the gelding in the picture; does need to reproduce now switched to Polytrack, though. (Previous form in novice stakes was modest.)
Has some ability and improved for the switch in surfaces when tried at Chelmsford last time out. More needed now in a handicap but she's starting to get the hang of things and is not out of the reckoning for this by any stretch.
Won a nursery at Wolverhampton (5f) in August but been expensive to follow since. Her yard is doing well just now and she's noted as the trainer's only runner on the card. Needs to prove a sixth furlong suits.
Modest form shown in three qualifying runs before being brushed aside on handicap debut over 5f here at the start of October. More needed and has to be noted that she's never yet started a race at single-figure odds. Others more convincing.
Shown promise in all previous starts and ran well to be third of 13 on her handicap debut at Chelmsford earlier this month. Unexposed at the trip and more to offer; handily drawn too; a player.
Shown improvement since being tried in handicaps and merits consideration after rallying under pressure last time out. Wide draw not ideal here but the rider helps at the weights with his 7lb claim. Dangerous to rule out without a betting check.
One of the more experienced in the line up but is 0-7 and ran poorly on her only attempt on the Polytrack here. Admittedly, the trip might have stretched her stamina on that occasion but her latest start back at 6f left a bit to be desired.
The ability is there but the gelding is starting to look exposed as a sprinter and was well held when tried over this trip latest; plenty to prove on course debut and first run in a visor.
Stablemate of New Jack Swing and looks the yard's lesser hope judging by three modest efforts posted so far. Not many clues to take from the jockey bookings so this filly might be best left as one for the notebook this time.
Three runs over 6f yielded little before the filly was tried over another furlong here last month; there was promise of more to come but the drop in distance casts a bit of doubt as she has form to reverse with Santorini Girl.
best effort when second in a seller at Wolverhampton last month but was well beaten in claimer at Chelmsford 15 days ago and makes limited appeal on that evidence.
Forecasts
Simply Susan (4/1), Jems Bond (9/2), Magical Force (6/1), New Jack Swing (8/1), Call Me Cheers (11/1), You Don't Own Me (12/1), Loco Dempsey (12/1), Santorini Sal (12/1), Fair Sabra (14/1), Queenoftheclyde (14/1), Lady Phyllis (14/1), Serious Jockin (25/1)
This is within the capabilities of SIMPLY SUSAN and she'll be hard to beat if she takes another step forward over this relatively new trip. Jems Bond will be a threat if taking to the Polytrack surface, while Queenoftheclyde is interesting as a long distance traveler who comes all the way down from Middleham to be Karl Burke's only runner on the Kempton card. New Jack Swing looks the pick of Richard Hannon's pair of intended runners and edges out Call Me Cheers as best of the rest.
- Simply Susan
- Jems Bond
