Back in the right grade after being highly tried at Ayr (Class 2) last time over this trip having won twice recently off lower marks in Class 5/6. May have found that last race coming too soon; new headgear tried as he makes his second AW start.

0-7 on the AW he was a little better than on his first start for this yard over this trip at Chelmsford but still comes here with some clouds hanging over his chance. A wind op doesn't look to have really helped him; others appeal more.

Lightly-raced sort who makes his handicap debut having had just a couple of delayed starts this year having run just once as a 2yo for Roger Charlton. Offered very little in either 2019 starts; hood on first-time, mark looks a stiff one.

Dual 2yo winner over 5f she's been highly tried on occasions since those victories but has remained without a further success. In good form earlier in the season her last three starts (all in tougher company) have been disappointing; second AW start.

Just the three starts for the Ralph Beckett yard showing ability on the first two of them but now makes her stable/handicap/AW debut stepping up to 6f for the first time. Sort this yard do well with; hood now on; draw could have been easier.

Hold-up performer who goes well at Chelmsford (all four career wins there; all at 6f); ran well there last time despite the race not going to plan (finds plenty for pressure); ran into a well handicapped one. Should remain competitive but 0-2 here.

All three career wins have come at on the AW at Lingfield earlier in the year at loner trips than she faces here (7f/1m). Majority of her starts since that winning spree have come on turf (far from effective on that surface); hood on for AW return.

Beaten at odds-on over 6f before scoring over 5f at Brighton last time showing improved form (helped by a strongly-run race at the trip). Now returns to the AW (both previous tries here) back up in trip/grade off 6lb higher mark; may progress again.

Running respectably in handicaps around here over 6f/7f; latest start showed his mark was workable (still relatively unexposed in handicaps). Now equipped with blinkers for the first-time although this 6f looks a little on the sharp side.

Failed to improve on his AW/handicap/stable debut over 7f here last time after leaving Gavin Cromwell in Ireland. Blinkers now reached for (first-time) in an effort to find some improvement switching to 6f for the first time since his debut.

Fair maiden but in reality only has a couple of decent handicap efforts failing to repeat his best form on his last two starts. Now returns to the AW for the first time since his first two starts having finished well held on his last two turf starts.

Took advantage of a drop in the weights to score over this trip in a much lower grade (0-55) at Chelmsford in August when getting first run on the opposition. Failed to back that run up twice now in better company; faces a stiff test here.

Forecasts

Global Hope (3/1), Turn To Rock (5/1), Mid Atlantic Storm (6/1), Desert Fox (7/1), Hey Ho Let's Go (15/2), Urban Highway (10/1), Diamonique (14/1), First Link (14/1), Black Isle Boy (16/1), Royal Dynasty (25/1), Aquarius (25/1), Doubly Beautiful (40/1)

Verdict

Trainers are obviously expecting first-time headgear to work in this contest as half of the field are wearing new or a change of headgear for the first-time. One who isn’t is URBAN HIGHWAY who showed his best form last time over 5f and this 6f could well suit him better with a 6lb rise unlikely to prove a hindrance. Royal Dynasty on her handicap debut would have been of more interest were it not for her wide draw along with AW specialist Desert Fox who appears better at Lingfield. Turn To Rock has proved consistent of late but hardly looks like a winner waiting to happen with the downgraded pair Global Hope and Diamonique looking bigger dangers.
