Scored on soft at Goodwood (1m4f) in June, when 4lb lower. Has been held in class 4 events since, so more needed.
Multiple winner at up to 1m3½f, though all on a sound/fast surface. 1lb lower than the last of those, at Lingfield in June, and needs to be much better than her last two efforts.
Sole win came at Pontefract (1m4f, good) in August, when 2lb lower. Was in better form going into that, but slightly off the boil since. Acts on soft, and can't be ruled out if bringing his 'A' game.
Soft ground winner over 1m2f at Nottingham last autumn. Added a Chester handicap (1m4½f, good to firm) in June, when 1lb higher. Has taken a few steps back since then, but could see her coming into this now handicapper relenting.
3lb higher than when scoring at Ripon (1m2f, soft) in August. Went close again at Pontefract last time, from just 1lb lower. Half-sister to three winners over this trip, so likely she will get it, and she is very interesting.
Four-time winner at up to 1m4f, including on soft. 1lb higher than her most recent success. It won't be easy to get the lead she seems to like from this stall, but wouldn't be ruling her out if she can.
Latest of his two wins came on soft at Thirsk (1m) last year, when 4lb lower. Gets this trip, and arrives on the back of a good effort at Ripon last month. Up 1lb, but an each-way player.
Scored over 1m4½f (soft) at Chester in June, when 3lb higher, so trip and ground hold no concerns. More recent form is an issue, but still wouldn't be writing him off now back on a handy mark. Interesting.
Back on a handy mark again, after going over a year without success. However, he still has stamina to prove over this sort of trip, as well as his ability to handles genuine soft ground.
Went close in all his first three starts against novices, including when second over C&D (soft) in August. Disappointed when favourite and upped to 1m6½f at Chester on his handicap debut last time, but not written off back here.
Dual C&D winner last month (on good/good to firm), as part of a hat-trick he had initiated at Beverley. Well held back here in better company last time, but this is more realistic, and he is not ruled out.
1-23, the win coming at Leicester (1m2f, good to firm) last month. Soft ground and this grade both looks significant concerns.
Forecasts
Anna Bunina (11/4), Billy No Mates (10/3), Wolf Prince (11/2), Unit of Assessment (10/1), Gylo (12/1), Appointed (12/1), Qawamees (14/1), Sea Of Mystery (14/1), Detachment (20/1), Super Kid (33/1), Cape Islay (33/1), Winged Spur (33/1)
A tough race to call, with several of these possessing the ability to win it from their current handicap marks, if on top of their game. Included in that are Winged Spur, stablemate Cape Islay, and Qawamees. Billy No Mates, Wolf Prince and Gylo can't be ruled out, but of greater interest are both Super Kid and ANNA BUNINA. The former is well treated on his win earlier in the season and could bounce back here, while the locally-trained latter is selected, as she may find a bit more improvement now stepped up in trip.
- Anna Bunina
- Super Kid
- Billy No Mates
