One of two runners in this contest for Paul Midgley. Was in good form back in June/July, but been quiet in four starts since. Is now back down to same mark he scored off at York (5f; good to firm) in June.
Back to form when posting an excellent effort to finish fourth in the Ayr Bronze Cup (6f; good) last month. Competes off the same mark now, and he could play a huge role if reproducing that run. However, he is too unpredictable.
Must be respected for trainer with 36% strike-rate at this course since the introduction of the AW surface. Does need to improve a bit on her most recent piece of form when fifth over 7f here nine days ago. Not exposed in handicaps though.
Posted respectable effort under a penalty when conceding 7lb to Brushwork in a C&D novice race last month. Now enters the handicap ranks with plenty of potential. Could take some stopping for in-form stable.
Class-dropper who has been contesting some strong races this season, and should appreciate the drop into calmer waters. Only run on AW was a defeat when sent off as 11-10f only to finish second over this C&D last October. Claims.
Has won over C&D four times, and he was only just behind Final Go over C&D last time out when fourth. Produced a pair of solid efforts when a narrow runner-up at Hamilton (6f; good to firm) before that run. Should have a role to play.
Much more encouraging signs last time when finishing runner-up over C&D on what was his AW debut. Could build on that effort and he is on the shortlist off a 2lb higher mark. However, yard/jockey form is of concern.
Is now 19lb below her last winning mark, and is difficult to make a case for at present. Suffered a few heavy defeats recently, and is showing no obvious signs of a return to form. Watching brief advised.
AW debut last time out when third at Chelmsford (6f; standard). Can progress from that and he hasn't finished out of the frame on either of his two starts in class five handicaps. Must enter calculations with place claims at least.
Still looks to hold some potential in handicaps, and she returned to form with a good second at Yarmouth (6f; good to firm) last month. Runs in this off an unchanged mark, and she is a player despite slightly concerning record on AW.
Five-time C&D scorer who took advantage of a reduced mark when successful at Redcar (7f; good to firm) in September. Not been able to build upon that at all, and she was described as "never dangerous" when sixth over 7f here when last seen.
Finished a half-length second at Chepstow (5f; good to soft) off in mid-August. Had won at Haydock (5f; heavy) the time before that. Disappointing the last twice however, and his record on AW reads 0-4. Risks attached.
C&D winner on his seasonal return back in April when shedding maiden tag off 5lb higher mark. In dire form in five subsequent starts since then though, and a leap of faith would be required to fancy him in any capacity.

Forecasts
Futuristic (2/1), Buccaneers Vault (11/2), Ascended (15/2), Final Go (15/2), Epeius (8/1), Great Shout (8/1), Bugler Bob (14/1), Nibras Again (14/1), Three Card Trick (16/1), Somewhere Secret (18/1), Upstaging (20/1), Oriental Lilly (25/1), Drogon (40/1), Ower Fly (66/1)
There are a whole host of previous C&D winners in this race, such as Oriental Lilly, Bugler Bob & Epeius. This represents quite the drop in class for Drogon who has been running in so far this season, while Great Shout arrives here after a promising effort at Yarmouth most recently. Despite the fact he came up short in his bid for the hat-trick over C&D last month, Bucaneers Vault could easily bounce back off an unchanged mark as he was only beaten a length that night. However, the one with the most appealing profile is the handicap newcomer FUTURISTIC who arrives here off a lenient mark after a good effort over 7f here last time out.
- Futuristic
- Great Shout
- Buccaneers Vault
