18:25 Southwell Wed 16 October 2019
Brought his Southwell record to 2-3 when beating Esprit De Corps by ¾L last week; no obvious reason as to why he shouldn't go mightily close to winning again under a 6lb penalty.
Course regular; 8lb higher than when winning by 5L on his penultimate start (1m); kept on well when finishing 3½L fifth of 14 to Makambe here 12 days ago, so the drop back to 7f represents a slight concern.
Both of his AW wins have come on Tapeta (Newcastle and Wolverhampton) but crucially he does also handle this surface; 2lb lower than when finishing 7L third to John Kirkup at Ayr (6f, soft) a fortnight ago.
Seems to appreciate testing conditions (was placed in a 5f novice here in August 2018); well below peak form on her last couple of starts; must bounce back swiftly on return from an 86-day break in order to figure positively.
Made all when easily winning a 7f Lingfield nursery for Brendan Powell last December; twice placed on Tapeta at Wolverhampton (6f) since joining Mark Usher; makes his first competitive start for 107 days; others more appealing.
Finished off strongly when runner-up to Requited in a 6f Class 6 course handicap 12 days ago; also has winning C&D form on his CV (from a similar mark); is expected to have a major say now upped in trip to 7f.
Runner-up to stablemate Vallarta (runs earlier at 5.25pm) on heavy ground at Hamilton (6f) 16 days ago; has limited experience of racing on Fibresand and is a 10-race AW maiden overall.
11-race maiden with hardly a single noteworthy effort on his CV; tailed off over 6f here recently; impossible to consider.
17-race maiden; has shown just a glimmer of ability on this surface in the past (7f); was always towards the rear when in-behind (seventh) today's rival Bee Machine over 6f here 12 days ago; it's very difficult to see that form being reversed.
