Won over C&D almost exactly two years ago off 17lb higher and two subsequent wins have both come at Ayr, including this July. Badly out of touch last two starts though and needs to really turn it around to have any chance off top weight..

Won one race a season for each of the last five seasons but went close to a second success this term when beaten just a neck at Ayr last time off 1lb lower. Another good run looks on the cards.

Scored twice over C&D ealier this term off lower marks and has appeared to be in handicapper's grip on most starts since. Only 1lb lower than when beaten 16 lengths her penultimate start and was well beaten over timber at Kelso last time.

Seven-race maiden but has run some fair races and yard is in good form at present. 1lb lower than fifth on quicker ground at Catterick last time and may interest each-way players.

Has failed to show any worthwhile form since being claimed after winning at Leicester in the spring for Richard Fahey. Well beaten in Hamilton 9f seller latest and drop back in trip needs to work the oracle.

Hasn't won on turf since May 2015 and has developed into an AW horse since. Well handicapped on pick of his old form but hard to get too excited about on recent efforts. Stable companion of Roaring Forties.

Both career wins have come over 6f at Carlisle but has hinted she could find a race at this longer trip. Disappointed at Catterick latest but previously ran respectably over C&D so is not without hope with fair 7lb claim taken into account.

Seven-time winner but all at up to 6f. Has looked as though he could get this trip if things fall right for him and has fallen to a potentially attractive mark. Worth checking for any market interest.

Yard had a winner the other day. All three wins have come on the AW and hasn't really looked as though he's going to break his duck on turf in recent runs. Wide draw no great help either.

Six-time sprint winner. Only attempt at this trip came some time ago when not disgraced at Redcar, but has to be a major stamina doubt and others make more appeal.

Yard enjoying a good run of form but it would be a very big surprise if this 27-race maiden can finally get off the mark here. Showed little in four starts last month following long break and has his work cut out

7f Southwell Fibresand winner last November. Series of poor efforts earlier this term and again ran poorly on return from break over 1m4f. Better at Southwell latest (7f) and is undeniably well handicapped if he can build on that.

Forecasts

Forever A Lady (7/2), Gremoboy (7/2), Roaring Forties (4/1), Midnight In Havana (6/1), Tarnhelm (9/1), Newstead Abbey (14/1), Colour Contrast (16/1), Gilmer (20/1), Prince of Time (25/1), Archies Lad (28/1), Star Cracker (40/1), Griffin Street (80/1)

Verdict

Although he's shown little form to speak of on turf to date, GREMOBOY has been given a proper chance by the handicapper if he can produce anything close to his recent Southwell run that came off a 19lb higher mark. In a wide open event he is a tentative selection. Midnight In Havana is another who has fair claims and it wouldn't surprise if he were to go close, while Forever A Lady and Tarnhelm also have claims on the pick of their recent efforts.
  1. Gremoboy
  2. Midnight In Havana
  3. Forever A Lady
