Seven-time winner including twice this season as reliable as they come and has a touch of class as his second and thirds to very useful Dakota Gold in Listed races the last twice show. Tough ask off top-weight but he is sure to give it a good go.
A little unfortunate not to win a big pot this season having never been worse than fifth in eight starts all in ultra-competitive 6f-7f handicaps. Handicapper always has the upper hand but every chance he makes the frame.
Only won one race but often threatened in big field handicaps and fallen to career-low mark now after disappointing in a first-time visor in the Ayr Gold Cup. That's removed now and he is respected for last year's winning yard.
C&D winner this season finished third in valuable Curragh handicap two back and Ayr Gold Cup latest. Handicapper keeps up the pressure but he's a player barring significant rain.
In the form of his life since wind surgery in the off-season, winning three of his six outings. Disappointed in Stewards Cup when last seen but that on ground too fast so back with juice underfoot he could resume progress.
Soft ground Ripon winner in August had a host of these behind when running another cracker to be second in the Ayr Gold Cup latest. Highest mark for two years his reward but foolish to ignore his big-field prowess.
Six-time winner was ninth in the Ayr Gold Cup before finishing second latest at Ripon in a lesser race. Others out of the Ayr race appeal more.
AW winner in June but been behind re-opposing rivals in all three subsequent starts and plenty ahead of him at Ayr last time hence others being preferred.
Unusual that this prolific sort is winless in 2019. Well beaten in Ayr Gold Cup and although ran well enough since others appeal as more likely at this stage.
Ripon winner in the summer got another raise when running well at Thirsk two starts back and that found him out in Ayr Silver Cup. Others look better handicapped.
Dual winner consistent enough on the whole but comes here on the back of a long trip to South Korea where he struggled in last of 14 runners and hard to think that's an ideal preparation.
C&D winner largely struggled in valuable sprint handicaps since although his Ayr Gold Cup seventh of 24 saw him in front of more than he was behind as far as re-opposing rivals. Each way chances.
Lightly raced three-time winner narrowly touched off at Ascot latest and looks sure to go close here with more to come for Yorkshire born trainer who loves to win big prizes in home county.
Versatile eight-time winner successful again at Ayr latest over 7f on soft ground. Likable sort who is always respected but nagging doubt that 6f on flat track may prove sharp enough.
Lightly raced in 2019 and although his AW third at Chelmsford hinted at a revival he is hard to fancy in this considerably deeper race.
Finished midfield in three similar contests since winning at Haydock in the summer. Handicap sliding back in his favour but bit to find with rivals on recent form.
Soft ground winner in May had more of today's rivals behind than in-front latest when finishing sixth in the Ayr Gold Cup. Place prospects here.
Disappointing over 5f latest at Ascot but won well the time before at Haydock and his style of racing lends itself ideally to a race such as this.
Midfield in Ayr Silver Cup latest continuing to give the impression that the handicapper has his measure at present.
Ffos Las winner last time faces sternest examination to date here but he continues to improve and has an impressive 5-16 record which in itself puts him on the shortlist.
Last win on AW in March and behind a whole host of today's rivals in several recent races making him hard to fancy.
Winless in 2019 and held by several rivals on corresponding form this season so one of the less appealing runners.
Forecasts
Aplomb (7/1), Hey Jonesy (8/1), Air Raid (9/1), Louie de Palma (10/1), Get Knotted (10/1), Danzeno (12/1), Lahore (12/1), Alaadel (12/1), Summerghand (12/1), Gulliver (16/1), Hyperfocus (16/1), Intisaab (16/1), Bernardo O'Reilly (20/1), Growl (20/1), Ice Age (25/1), Gunmetal (25/1), Cold Stare (25/1), Soldier's Minute (33/1), Staxton (33/1), Pass The Vino (33/1), Lancelot Du Lac (50/1), George Bowen (50/1)
In a wide-open contest classy top-weight DANZENO is taken to deservedly get back to winning ways and he looks an excellent each-way bet at least with his consistency very hard to fault. If there is one who could be well ahead of the handicapper it is ante-post favourite Aplomb and he has to be respected. Growl had nearly half the field behind latest when second in the Ayr Gold Cup.
- Danzeno
- Aplomb
- Growl
