Stepped up on his Musselburgh win (7f, good to firm) when a short head second (front pair 3L clear) on his nursery debut at Ayr (1m, good) last time. Up 6lb for that, acts on good to soft, and has claims now reverting to novice company.
Improved for his Ripon debut when beaten just over 1L in an Ayr novice event (1m) last time. Handles soft, and could see him being involved again.
€38,000 yearling. Third foal, half-brother to winner in Czech Republic. Dam German 1m Flat/2m1f chase winner. Trainer's turf 2yos 3% this season. Market check advised.
Well held when a 14-1 chance on debut at Goodwood. Looks in need of more experience.
0-6 so far, but has gone close a few times, none more so than when a neck third in a Wolverhampton novice event last time. Has some very solid form in the context of this race and should again be thereabouts.
€20,000 yearling. Closely related to German Listed-placed 1m2f winner Anna Mia, half-brother to winners Anna Pivola (Group-placed 1m 2yo) & Anno Mio (7f). Dam French 1m3f winner. Stable quiet enough at present is 17% with 2yos this season.
€4,000 yearling. Third foal. Half-brother to 7¼f 2yo winner Sebastiano Ricci. Dam placed 1m3f in France, closely related to 1m4f-2m AW winner Up Ten Down Two. Stable among the winners this week is 8% with turf 2yos in 2019.
66-1 and well held on debut at Thirsk (7f, good to firm) last month. Can improve for that run and the extra furlong, but may need more experience.
Ninth foal. Half-sister to eight winners up to 1m½f inc Master Of War (6f-1m inc GB 6f 2yo Listed) and Muaamara (6f inc at 2). Dam placed 1m2f-1m2½f (inc AW). Stable 2yos 17% last five seasons. Looks the most eyecatching debutante here.
50-1 and well held on debut at Redcar (7f, good) last month. Looks one to watch in this field.
Showed some ability for the first time when third at Beverley on her most recent run, but will need much more than that here.
Forecasts
Yoshimi (7/4), Arch Moon (10/3), Sword Beach (4/1), Tenfold (8/1), La Foglietta (10/1), Sweet Reward (16/1), Bucephalus (25/1), Violette Szabo (40/1), Puckle (40/1), Anno Maximo (40/1), Fiannoglaigh (66/1)
The two previous winners of this race had experience (five prior races and two prior races respectively). Therefore, as good-a-page as La Foglietta and Anno Maximo have, those two newcomers of interest may be up against it first time. Also, Michael Bell's yard (Anna Maximo) is just a little quiet on the winner front of late. Therefore, the suggestion is YOSHIMI, who has invaluable experience and could be up to successfully conceding weight all around. Sword Beach and Arch Moon appeal most of the remainder.
- Yoshimi
- Arch Moon
- La Foglietta
