Best effort can when second over 5f at Pontefract in April but found competitive handicap company too hot to handle at the Curragh (6f) on Irish Champions Weekend. Back in class but still has to find more.

Had been running moderately but took advantage of likeable handicap mark to score on nursery debut at Thirsk (6f) last month. Up in trip and has a 7lb rise to contend with this time around.

Had been well-beaten in his first four starts but showed good ability when second in 1m Bath nursery last month. Entitled to improve again but drop back to 7f isn't ideal.

To modest efforts at Haydock and Pontefract were banished when disappointing back at the Merseyside track in a 7f novice in July. Looked raw that day and given time to mature so maybe of interest on debut in this sphere.

Well beaten on first two starts but stepped up to take second in weak Brighton auction maiden (7f) last month. Makes handicap debut off okay mark.

Lightly-raced maiden. Ran okay after some poor efforts when seventh in C&D nursery at the end of last month. Looked unwilling to go on that day but holds place claims.

Good winner of 7f Catterick seller in August but failed to fire off nice-looking mark in C&D nursery last time out. Significant improvement required in this company.

Four-race maiden. Bombed out on nursery debut when 12th of 13 at Redcar (7f) in late September. Tongue-tie tried for the first time and hails from powerful yard but improvement needed.

Remains a maiden after five starts but irked out progression to finish fourth in C&D nursery 22 days ago. Replication of that effort should put him in the mix.

Remains a maiden but fared better than the result suggested when sixth in 6f Redcar nursery in late September. Stiffer test set to suit so has place claims.

Puerto Sol14

Had looked a regressive sort but defied expectations when 33/1 third in 6f Redcar nursery towards the end of last month. This trip is set to suit better and may be getting the hang of things now.

Still a maiden but showed likeable signs to take fifth in C&D nursery on his latest start. Up against re-oppposing rivals today though so slightly more is needed.

Four race maiden, finishing down the field in each start to date. Tries handicap company but likely to be a big price.

Forecasts

Idoapologise (2/1), Don Ramiro (13/2), Bryn Du (7/1), Inductive (8/1), Bendy Spirit (10/1), Breck's Selection (12/1), Guipure (14/1), Red Maharani (16/1), Pearl Stream (28/1), Our Dave (28/1), Grace Note (33/1), Puerto Sol (33/1), Hands Down (50/1)

Verdict

A weak-looking race for its level, preference is for PUERTO SOL, who struggled early on in his career but showed a good turnaround last time over an inadequate trip and is expected to excel over this distance and has the measure already of some of his rivals today. Grace Note has to be respected given that she pulled clear of the rest in her defeat at Brighton last time, while Idoapologise sets the form standard but the 7lb handicap hike suggests he may be in the grip of the handicapper.
  1. Puerto Sol
  2. Grace Note
  3. Idoapologise
