Unplaced in a point and four hurdles so 57L defeat on chasing bow no great surprise and he makes no appeal here either.
Likable sort whose won nine times on the Flat and three times over hurdles makes his chasing bow here. 126 rating over timber suggests he can be competitive but not certain he will jump a fence off breeding and background.
Only won once over hurdles (a Navan maiden) but looks the sort to do better over fences although he fell early on here in his lone start over them 12 months ago in this very race. Market can guide but not one to forget.
Chase bred gelding won a bumper and a hurdle before bowing out when struggling in a Fairyhouse Grade Two last April. Can improve for a switch to fences and has to be considered based on yard he hails from.
Naas maiden hurdle winner beaten 39L into ninth of 16 at Roscommon on recent chase bow. Do better with time but others appeal more after that.
Beaten 25L here and 16L at Roscommon in first two chases and this maiden looks the sort to win races this winter although may be that handicaps are best path to success.
Dual hurdles winner but tailed off here on chase debut and Stormey was a long way ahead of him in second there so has plenty to find with that rival. Can improve but others preferred.
Pulled up in second bumper and only hurdle after minor ability shown on debut last year. Changed stables ahead of chase debut but shown nothing to recommend him today.
2018 Triumph Hurdle third only raced twice since and was only fourth when odds-on for chasing bow at Listowel. Hopefully can get career back on track now and may be the one to side with for yard which won this with high-class novice last season.
Placed in four of his nine chases so far and had three of these well behind when second at the course penultimately. Shade disappointing latest but every chance he makes the frame again although vulnerable to less exposed sorts.
Grade Two placed hurdles maiden fell on chase debut before finishing third here latest (Stormey second) over 2m2f. Still a very young horse so improvement remains probable and can turn tables with aforementioned rival to go close.
Forecasts
Dis Donc (7/4), Sayo (3/1), Fine Brunello (7/2), Final List (9/1), Brex Drago (9/1), Stormey (10/1), Paranoid (25/1), Princely Conn (33/1), Never Off Duty (33/1), An Droichead Gorm (100/1), Rainy Night Insoho (100/1)
Although it would be fair to say the 2018 Triumph Hurdle was a far from vintage renewal finishing third in that race is never a feat to be underestimated so SAYO is clearly a horse of considerable talent and although little has gone right since he is still only five so can be given another chance here. Fellow smart juvenile hurdler Fine Brunello ran well enough here latest to rate a big danger and he along with Gigginstown duo Final List and Dis Donc must be considered.
- Sayo
- Fine Brunello
- Final List
