Leopardstown beginners chase scorer last winter found Grade Three, Cheltenham four-miler and Irish National afterwards too tough. This level however should be more to his liking and he can improve plenty in handicaps now.
Built on promise of earlier chases when winning for the first time over 2m2f at this course latest. Longer trip a slight question mark but seemed to stay 2m7f at Killarney the time before. Improving sort is respected here.
125-rated hurdler, justified market prominence when scoring in beginners' chase at Downpatrick (2m2½f, good) before getting too far adrift through slow jumping at Wexford. Ran on well late there however so extra 2½f should help; leading player.
Beaten huge distances in three chases and a hurdle to date and in a warm contest he makes no appeal.
Failed to complete in three of seven starts in over three years for this yard so surely hard to train these days. Best form would give him a realistic chance but long way off that in lone start in 2019 and after another long absence he's high risk.
Kilbeggan maiden hurdle winner had no real chance in chase debut versus very high class Wicklow Brave but pulled up since here over hurdles and on balance others have more compelling claims.
0-18 over fences and failed to beat a rival in last two starts. Not won at all since December 2015 and at this point simply can't be recommended at all.
Forecasts
Gun Digger (5/4), Charlie Stout (5/2), The Red Menace (7/2), Drumacoo (9/1), Paddy Buns (16/1), Rebel Turn (66/1), Brave Light (100/1)
Although a shade disappointing in the spring GUN DIGGER's Leopardstown win reads extremely well with the 18L second Whisperinthebreeze subsequently winning a €50k handicap. He should have more to come this season at this sort of level and makes plenty of appeal for last year's winning yard. The Red Menace won on chase bow and looked likely to improve for this trip subsequently so he rates the biggest danger ahead of recent course winner Charlie Stout.
