Victorious over 2m1f on good ground in a novice hurdle at Aintree in the spring. GOod second back from a break at Warwick (2m, good-to-soft) last time out and looks likely to run well once more.

7/4
Bumper and point-to-point winner who is unbeaten in two starts over hurdles most recently when taking a 2m1f event at Cartmel (good) by 12L in May. Hails from a leading stable on his return from a break.
3
Horse silk
100/1
Successful three times on the Flat but has failed to figure in two hurdles starts since joining this yard. Others make more appeal in this contest.

Dual Flat winner ran well to finish 5L second in a 2m1f novice event at Sedgefield (good) on hurdling debut in August. One to note with further improvement likely.

Ballard Downv74
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: David Noonan| T: D Pipe
20/1
Victorious over 1m on the Flat for this yard at Windsor (good-to-firm) in June and ran well when runner-up in a small field event at Southwell (good) over an extended 1m7f on hurdles debut the following month. Needs to improve to take this however.
6
Horse silk
100/1
Twice a winner on the Flat but rated just 45 in that sphere at present and others look to hold stronger claims on jumps debut.
Well beaten 29L fifth in a bumper over an extended 2m at Market Rasen (good) on debut in August. Tongue tie worn that day is retained on hurdles debut.
8
Horse silk
100/1
12 race maiden on the Flat finished a close fifth over 7f at Dundalk on final start for previous yard. Probably best watched on debut over hurdles.
9
Horse silk
33/1
Placed in a couple of point-to-points in Ireland and was beaten 14L when fourth in a 2m3f bumper at Cork (yielding) in August. Interesting to see how he fares on debut for this stable.

33/1
13 race maiden on the Flat finished well beaten over 1m4f at Epsom (good-to-firm) in August. Others make more appeal switched to hurdles for the first time.

Horse silk
40/1
Not beaten far when seventh in a bumper over an extended 2m on good ground here when debuting in March. Worth a check in the market on hurdling debut.
Dual Flat winner most recently over 1m4f at Wolverhampton in May. Well beaten at Lingfield (good-to-firm) last time out however and others make more appeal on jumping debut.
13
Horse silk
100/1
Well beaten on all three starts so far including over hurdles the last twice. Probably best watched having been beaten 84L at Newton Abbot (2m1f, good) last time out.
Left hurdles debut effort well behind when finishing 21L third in a 2m novice contest at Ffos Las (good) in May. More needed on return from a break.

Forecasts

Ferrobin (11/8), Onthefrontfoot (7/4), Ashington (7/2), Ballard Down (20/1), Jawshan (33/1), Follow Your Fire (33/1), Pinnacle Peak (40/1), Down To The Sea (50/1), Peltwell (66/1), Lady Of Authority (66/1), Pania (100/1), Captain Marmalade (100/1), Amangiri (100/1), Finvarra (100/1)

Verdict

FERROBIN performed well when runner-up on his most recent start and he can defy a penalty to register a second hurdling victory in the opening race on the card. Onthefrontfoot, the only other previous hurdling winner in the field can finish runner-up while third place can go to Ashington who ran well when placed on his jumps debut last time out.
  1. Ferrobin
  2. Onthefrontfoot
  3. Ashington
