- Maureen Smith Nationwide Vehicle Contracts Handicap (Class 3)
- 11 Runners
- Surface: Turf
Without a win since 2017. Goes well on testing ground. Not as good as he was then, but was still capable of a really good run on heavy at Ayr this time last year, when 2lb higher. Not written off.
Has won over this trip on soft. Back on a handy mark after a string of defeats since scoring in April, when with Kevin Ryan. Well beaten on stable debut last month, and lots to prove after that.
Has run well on soft ground, though was well held on sole previous try on heavy. 5lb higher than when scoring at Bath in June, and looks up against it judged on his two subsequent starts.
Soft ground scorer at up to 7f and ran well from this mark here when beaten just over 1L in April. Also ran well over C&D last time and is very much a player again.
Has won on soft, although his best couple of efforts were on a sound/fast surface. Went close from today's mark at Ripon two starts back, and had also won from 1lb higher earlier in the year. Inconsistent, but not ruled out.
Yet to win on slower than good. Up 2lb for going close at Thirsk (5f, good) last time. Will have to be at his best if he is to prove good enough from this mark.
Mudlark who has won here last year over 7f on heavy, when 4lb lower. Has since bettered that when scoring from 2lb lower at Chester in May. Below par in two of his last three runs, but now tongue-tied and remains of interest.
Appears to go on most ground and scored on heavy at Nottingham (6f) in June, when 1lb lower. Inconsistent since then, but if performing to his optimum he would be thereabouts.
Soft ground scorer, who is back below his last winning mark after an eight-race losing run. Wouldn't do to write him off in this field given that his record suggests he is an autumn horse.
Seems to enjoy getting his toe in and also won over this trip on AW at Newcastle in June. Went close again at York (7f, soft) two starts ago, which prompted a 4lb rise. Held here (heavy) from this mark last time, so still a bit to prove.
Dual winner here over both 5f and C&D (both on heavy). Looks plenty high enough in the handicap now and looks up against it from this mark.
