Gradual improvement over the season came to fruition when landing the Group 3 Phoenix Sprint Stakes over C&D last month, beating Woody Creek a neck.
C&D as a juvenile the Bated Breath colt finished over 3L behind Gustavus Weston in the Group 3 Phoenix Sprint Stakes here over a similar trip last month when sent off the 15/8f.
Well held in a 6½f handicap at this venue in July but not disgraced when finishing 4½L behind Fairyland in the Group 1 Flying Five Stakes here earlier this month on good ground. No surprise to witness a bold bid here.
Useful handicapper at best, C&D winner back in 2016. Down the field on return to action here in a 6f handicap last month. Liable to find a couple stronger.
Popular C&D winning veteran, still running well in defeat in a number of starts since May. Losing run stretches back to 2017 and the 16-time winner appears a little vulnerable here.
Two-time winner over C&D latest of which came in the Listed Dash Stakes in June, beating Woody Creek a head. Highest rated in the contest.
Solid and consistent British raider winner of four of her 13 Flat starts on turf. Last victory came on penultimate start at Pontefract in August when landing the Listed Flying Fillies' Stakes over a similar trip on good ground. One for the shortlist
Forecasts
Speak In Colours (6/5), Perfection (9/2), Gustavus Weston (5/1), Beckford (6/1), Gordon Lord Byron (12/1), Chessman (16/1), Downforce (20/1)
The Joseph O'Brien-trained SPEAK IN COLOURS can land his third C&D win from four starts over the combination in this competitive Group 3 contest. The four-year-old finished fourth of 17 beaten 3½L behind Blue Point at Royal Ascot and can hold off the attentions of Phoenix Sprint Stakes winner Gustavus Weston who can emerge as the biggest danger. British raider, the David O'Meara-trained Perfection in the colours of Cheveley Park Stud and the popular veteran Gordon Lord Byron can battle for remaining prize money.
