Came up short when introduced to a Class 2 nursery at Doncaster (6½f, good to firm) a fortnight ago, having previously won modest novice contests at Yarmouth and Redcar (both 7f); tackles a new trip (scope on pedigree) wearing cheekpieces.
€40,000 juvenile; improved form when chasing home the Charlie Appleby-trained Amber Island at Leicester (7f, good to firm) earlier this month; open to more progress now stepping up in trip for her maiden handicap start; of interest.
Progressive during August & September (in 1m novice contests); ultimately no match for the winner Pocket Square at Ascot (1m, good to firm) recently, but a repeat of that form should see her competitive assuming she handles the forecast conditions.
Stayed on strongly when a pleasing third to Alenava at Haydock (6f, soft) in June, but dwelt when upped to 7f at Doncaster ten days later; off since (102 days); fitness is taken on trust now tackling a new trip; market a useful guide.
Finished just in front of today's rival Irish Eileen when third on debut at Doncaster (7f, soft) in June; similar form since, including when fourth (Walkonby third) from a wide draw on nursery debut at Thirsk (1m); 1lb lower.
Off the mark in a Newmarket seller (7f, good) in August, swiftly doubling-up a couple of weeks later in a 1m nursery at Salisbury; one-paced third (Topkapi Star fourth) from her revised handicap mark at Thirsk (1m, good) latest.
Forecasts
Walkonby (2/1), High Flying Bird (3/1), Expensive Dirham (10/3), Topkapi Star (9/2), Irish Eileen (16/1), Nirodha (20/1)
A very tight fillies' nursery with precious little to choose between the likes of Irish Eileen, Topkapi Star and Walkonby. Expensive Dirham is mildly progressive and should play a leading role if able to handle the forecast softer conditions, while Nirodha remains unexposed in handicaps after being set a very stiff task (Class 2) at Doncaster a fortnight ago. However, the tentative approach is to chance the Tom Dascombe-trained handicap debutante HIGH FLYING BIRD. She split a Godolphin duo when runner-up at Leicester (7f) in a race which also featured representatives from the stables of Sir Michael Stoute and John Gosden.
- High Flying Bird
- Expensive Dirham
- Topkapi Star
