Won a seller at Lingfield last month, but while she is pretty reliable, she does seem to need fast ground to show her form, and recent rain unlikely to enhance her chances.

Needed drop to claiming company (without usual headgear) to get his head back in front at Kempton (6f) last time, and while his mark is fair on balance, he stays 7f well, and the drop to 5f is far from certain to be in his favour.

Kodiak Attack13

Maiden winner at Lingfield, and has improved in handicaps on last two starts (on easy ground), winning at Bath and finishing a fine second at Chepstow. Type to keep thriving now he's clicked.

Five-time winner including C&D but on a long losing run, and he has looked a shadow of his old self in four outings this season, so debatable if he can capitalise on a plummeting mark.

Perfect Charmb13

Won a maiden handicap at Ffos Las (5f, good to firm) in late July and followed up under penalty at same track three days later. Has since been well held in three runs, however, and will have to improve to land this.

Extremely well treated on the best of his form, loves this track, and handles the mud, so possible he'll build on some fairly respectable efforts for all he does seem a declining force this season.

Not beaten far over C&D last time, but that came in a much weaker race, and she has little chance from 15lb out of the handicap.

Good second on heavy ground at Nottingham last month, and perhaps best to concentrate on that rather than a disappointing effort at Chepstow last time when beaten favourite.

Quirky sort, but overcame a slow start to beat Kodiak Attack at Chepstow last time. Every chance if reproducing that run, but that is not a given given his patchy record.

Forecasts

Atty's Edge (3/1), Pettochside (10/3), Valentino Sunrise (11/2), Wiley Post (11/2), Major Pusey (6/1), Brandy Station (6/1), Kodiak Attack (7/1), Dream Catching (8/1), Arishka (10/1), More Than Likely (12/1), Three Little Birds (12/1), Firenze Rosa (25/1), Perfect Charm (25/1)

Verdict

PETTOCHSIDE is not quite the force he was, but he's competitive off his current mark, and the recent rain is a positive for a horse with a number of heavy-ground wins to his name. Kodiak Attack is improving and can turn the tables with Atty's Edge having finished second to that rival at Chepstow.
  1. Pettochside
  2. Kodiak Attack
  3. Atty's Edge
