Beaten 15L when finishing third in a five runner 3m handicap chase at Perth (good) at the end of July. Blinkers worn for the first time when disappointing at Stratford (good) over an extended 2m6f last time out are retained stepping up in trip.
Making his first start in over 15 months when finishing 29L last of five in a handicap chase at Perth (3m, good) in July. Worth a check in the market racing off a mark 3lb higher than for his latest success with cheekpieces tried for the first time.
Good second in a 3m2f handicap chase at Fontwell (good) on his penultimate start. Pulled up at Wetherby (3m, good) subsequently and is making his seasonal debut off a mark 10lb higher than for his latest success.
Completed a Southwell double when winning by 9L over 3m on good ground in July. Well below that form in a handicap hurdle at the same venue subsequently and this return to fences is a positive.
Run well on both starts since returning to Rules racing including when 1L second over an extended 3m2f at Sedgefield (good) three weeks ago. Notable runner despite a 1lb rise in the weights.
Good 5L second in a good ground C&D handicap chase at the end of July. Disappointed on only subsequent start however and needs to put latest effort behind him.
C&D winner put in a couple of good placed efforts at Fakenham in the spring including over 3m on good ground in June. Pulled up over C&D on return from a break at the end of July and better expected in this contest.
C&D winner has placed on both starts since winning over this trip at Fontwell (good) in June. Interesting contender off the same mark as when beaten 6L in second in a good-to-soft ground handicap chase over this C&D last time out.
Forecasts
Exxaro (3/1), Bermeo (7/2), Mr Mafia (9/2), The Caller (5/1), Fifty Shades (7/1), Bells Of Ailsworth (10/1), El Terremoto (16/1), Newtown Lad (20/1)
THE CALLER has shown good form in two starts since joining this yard and he can register a first victory over fences at the third time of asking in this competitive looking handicap chase. The selection can see off Mr Mafia who returns to chasing following a disappointing effort over hurdles last time out while third place can go to Bermeo who receives weight from all of his rivals.
- The Caller
- Mr Mafia
- Bermeo
