Impressive winner of a 1m Newmarket handicap in June, and better effort since when a staying on third at Epsom (1m½f) last time. Well worth a try at this trip on recent evidence, and is one to consider.

Six-race maiden but has run to a remarkably consistent level in three runner-up spots in a row. Remains on a good mark and highly likely to be thereabouts once again.

Useful AW performer but comes into this off the back of some heavy defeats, and beaten an aggregate of 45L on her last two starts. Has plenty to prove.

Handled the mud well when gaining last-gasp win at Windsor (1m) in June. Not in the same form since, but took a step in the right direction upped to 1¼m at Lingfield last time. Tends to get outpaced, so a stiff test like this could well suit.

Good effort in finishing runner-up over an extended 2m at Wolverhampton in January. Disappointing twice since, and this trip looks too sharp on her comeback from a lengthy break.

Well held on handicap debut, but improved when landing a handicap T Chelmsford last time on first try at 1¼m. That was a moderate race, but she remains unexposed beyond a mile, and may well do better.

Cause for optimism on some of last year's AW form, but she has been below those levels this year. Beginning to ease to a fair mark, but blinkers no help last time, and gets another change of headgear now.

Put up her best effort when second to Crystal Tiara on soft ground at Nottingham in August, but was below that form at Bath last time with a hood retained, and has a little bit to prove after that.

Down the field on all four starts to date, getting just a tad more competitive on handicap bow at Windsor last time. Eased 2lb for that, but still looks overburdened.

Forecasts

Mina Vagante (9/4), Angel's Whisper (9/4), Petite Malle (5/1), Guroor (7/1), Uncertain Smile (11/1), Venusta (14/1), Your Thoughts (20/1), Falcon Cliffs (25/1), Narjes (33/1)

Verdict

MINA VAGANTE is arguably the architect of her own downfall having finished second three times in a row since going handicapping, but she probably caught a tartar last time, and is worth another chance with Cieren Fallon taking over in the saddle. Angel's Whisper and Venusta have both hinted that they need this trip when racing over 1m, so are put forward as alternatives in a modest finale.
  1. Mina Vagante
  2. Angel's Whisper
  3. Venusta
