Bumper winner; had a very productive novice season over hurdles winning on four occasions twice over C&D (usually prominent). Rounded off the season with a good win at Ayr in handicap company (versus novices); career-high mark for an admirable sort.

Progressive handicapper; picked up his winning thread when landing his fourth consecutive completed start over C&D last time. Hard to crab his last performance against some sound yardsticks (produced further progress); tough to beat under a penalty.

Performed well for this yard since transferring from Alan King winning three small-field handicaps the latest in August at Perth in testing conditions. No match for a well-handicapped improver at Sedgefield last time; steps up in trip, stiff task.

Frustrating and quirky sort over fences (well fancied for several big chases) when with Gordon Elliott. Not able to come close to that sort of form for this stable; hard to quantify what sort of form he's in now; reportedly bled when last seen.

One Night In Milan (10/11), Aye Right (6/4), Nayati (7/1), Squouateur (22/1)

Verdict

Three of the four runners have shown good form over hurdles with ONE NIGHT IN MILAN looking the sort who can progress further yet although some analysts sort to dismiss his performance last time when he beat a decent field in taking fashion. Despite the small field his won’t be an easy task as he seeks to overcome a career-high mark but it may take more than a 6lb penalty to stop him. Richard Johnson travels north for just one ride so Aye Right who has an excellent track record (211224) has to respected despite the fact that he returns from an absence. Nayati is worth a try at the trip having been in good form since joining Don McCain although he faces a tough task in this grade.
