Drops markedly in trip as he returns to 1m2f after failing to beat a rival on each of his last three starts in handicaps. Shown at the start of the year he possesses more than enough ability to win a race of this nature. Could get back on track.
Massively underwhelming favourite (11/10f) when third in a claimer at Lingfield (1m1f; good to firm) most recently. Not been campaigned as ruthlessly as most from this yard tend to be, so still has potential upped in trip. Does need to bounce back.
Looked to finally be getting the hang of things back in April/May time, but he has been woefully out of form of late, suffering heavy defeats the last twice. Drop to this grade could see him feature more competitively, but leap of faith required.
Only had the three starts but showed no improvement for the switch to this grade when only sixth at Goodwood (1m3f; good). Work to do to reverse the form with Elegant Love on the basis of that effort. Place claims at best.
Narrow winner three starts back when dropped into this grade. Not as good since returning to handicaps the last twice, but she has to be afforded respect back in this grade. Makes debut a 1m2f which could bring out some improvement.
Has more to recommend than most. Bumped into one when runner-up in this company at Goodwood (1m3f; good). Then produced a fair effort when behind the exciting Strelka on the AW at Kempton (1m4f; standard to slow) last time. Strong claims.
0-11 and has been well-held the last twice. Been running over a variety of trips in recent months and now makes debut at 1m2f. Major improvement required on the bare form of her latest effort in particular. Look elsewhere.
Makes stable debut but has shown virtually nothing in eight career starts. Also needs to prove she can deal with the step up to 1m2f. Not one to place full faith in.
0-9 and has her first run on these shores for Irish trainer. Suspicion that she may be better on the AW, and others look to be more solid. Market check advised.
Forecasts
Elegant Love (1/1), Mustadun (13/2), Miss Elsa (7/1), Renegade Master (8/1), Bonneville (10/1), Lippy Lady (10/1), Quare Lucky (10/1), Lord Howard (20/1), Olwen's Dream (66/1)
A low-grade affair in which preference is for ELEGANT LOVE. The selection is still searching for her elusive first career success after 15 attempts, but the form she has shown the last twice, including when finishing in fourth behind the hugely exciting Strelka would entitle her to go very close. The top-weight Renegade Master is also a player, despite having something to prove after finding the step up to Class 4 company beyond him of late. He should fare far more competitively back in these calmer waters, while Mustadun should also be thereabouts despite producing an underwhelming run most recently at Lingfield when a below-par third.
- Elegant Love
- Renegade Master
- Mustadun
