Displayed a willing attitude when scoring by a neck at Ascot (7f, good to firm) in July, and that form was boosted here on Thursday by the runner-up Manigordo (fourth in a valuable sales contest); struggled in the Group 3 Acomb (York) latest.
Made a winning debut at Goodwood (6f, good) and wasn't disgraced (sixth) in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket subsequently; twice beaten at this trip since and his stamina reserves are questionable at an early stage of his racing career.
Burned his rivals off from the start (made all) when a 4L winner at Windsor (1m, good to firm) 12 days ago; that was a career best effort on his sixth start and with his trainer bang-in-form merits respect off a 7lb higher mark.
Still a maiden (2,3,3,2) but only just failed to catch the Charlie Appleby-trained Imperial Empire in a Sandown nursery (7f, good to firm) a fortnight ago; his debut second to Repartee (York) also reads well; should be suited by this extra furlong.
Won on his first attempt at this trip at Windsor (1m, good) last month, and was possibly unsuited by the sharper AW track at Lingfield subsequently (third); making his nursery debut with something to find with the others on bare form.
Forecasts
Kingbrook (7/4), Incinerator (11/4), Forbidden Land (7/2), Wild Thunder (5/1), Lucander (9/1)
Despite the relatively small field this is a very tricky nursery. Incinerator was quick off the marks when a decisive 4L winner at Windsor, and his trainer is in excellent form generally. However, the handicapper has adjusted his position accordingly by 7lb. Kingbrook has a likeable attitude, some solid form on his CV and is likely to appreciate the ease in grade. Nevertheless, the tentative advice is to side with one of the Richard Hannon-trained runners. FORBIDDEN LAND remains a maiden, yet went incredibly close at Sandown a fortnight ago and on the basis of a re-watching of his earlier efforts promises to be suited by today's extra yardage.
- Forbidden Land
- Kingbrook
- Incinerator
