Has gone 14 months without a win, handicap marking is in decline but not really doing anything to suggest he will take advantage of that. Well held at Lingfield in first-time blinkers (retained) 11 days ago.

Soft-ground winner as a three-year-old, and won two more on AW last year when with Eve Johnson Houghton, including here over 7f. Has essentially been regressing for this trainer since.

All four career wins at Southwell over 7f/1m. Didn't run badly over this C&D in March on sole previous visit however, though recent turf form less inspiring. Needs to bounce back.

11-race maiden, best AW effort came over C&D in January 2018 for previous handler. Not beaten far in maiden handicap at Wolverhampton (1m1½f) in July but will need to find more.

Eight-time winner (from 50) but has been struggling for form since returning from 11 month absence this spring. Well held over C&D last month and hard to fancy in current mood.

Broke his duck last month at Yarmouth over a mile sporting first-time blinkers. Just missed out on follow up at Thirsk since having gone up 4lb. Inched up further but has run well over C&D before and goes on the shortlist.

Won six-times including twice at Listed level but has gone more than five years between drinks now. Beaten more 10L over C&D last on return from latest layoff. Best watched currently.

Back-to-back win at Lingfield (AW) and Yarmouth (good to firm) over a mile this summer, showed he can compete from this mark at Wolverhampton after but downed tools easily at Newmarket on latest run.

Landed a 7f Wolverhampton novice in April at odds of 40-1, rather slow to find feet in handicaps since but a mark of 65 in this grade is surely enough to suggest she can give this a run based on June effort here.

Winner over 7f here last year and scored at Lingfield (1m) in January off mark 1lb higher than this one. Rarely threatened since and yard going through slow spell. Cheekpieces tried now. Watch betting.

11-race maiden, uncompetitive in AW starts at Southwell and Chelmsford previously and needs a big improvement to get a blow in here seemingly.

Winner over 6f at Chepstow last month and experience eight-year-old found only one too good there under a penalty a week later over 7f. 2lb higher back on the AW and tends to do best on turf.

Verdict

The finale might go the way of KODIAC LASS. She wasn't beaten that far over 7f here in June and comes back here rated 6lb lower and easing class. She does have a slight question at this mile trip but the three-year-old has time on her side to address that. Purgatory has been in good form on turf and handles this surface while Mitigator must put a poor Newmarket run behind now, he joins Is It Off on the list of place contenders.
