Only one win from 16 but looked to be on the verge of adding to it following a couple of close up efforts, including at the Galway Festival, before a disappointing run at Newmarket. Didn't look to handle the track and better expected.
Three seconds from last four starts for this yard have been to a consistent level. Suited by drop back from 1m2f and deserves to add to his Dundalk mile maiden win for his previous yard. Should be competitive again.
Yet to add to early novice success but has gone close here this season while proving inconsistent. Eighth start here in a row and remains hard to predict.
Last two wins have come at this track including over a furlong further two starts back (previous win over this distance). Remains on an attractive mark and a good third in a higher grade over this C&D last time.
Best suited by testing conditions as shown by his heavy ground win in June. Has struggled to make any sort of impression in three starts since and probably best watched.
Infrequent winner on a very long losing run dating back to February 2016. Returns from a hurdles campaign and hard to fancy.
C&D winner remains on a very good mark but an overall profile of just three successes from 32 overall starts. In reasonable enough form and suited by drop in trip. Place possibilities.
Showed a consistent level of form in five starts last year but well beaten last in much stronger company on sole start this year in March. Down in grade following an absence but presumably has had issues.
Raced three times for Andrew Balding this year including a career best second at Hamilton in June. Sold for 50,000 gns since and with a stable who do very well with their imports. Likely to type on handicap debut.
Just touched off over this C&D last time and racing to a consistent standard without winning this year. Remains 6lb higher than last winning mark, place possibilities but an infrequent winner.
Placed third in 1m handicaps at Ayr the last twice. Beaten 1L on heavy ground there last month and is one to note having won off this mark on the AW back in March.
0-8 in Britain but has won for his previous trainer in France. Ran with promise when close up on his reappearance but regressive in three starts since. Others preferred.
Early promise on the AW for former handler James Tateand sold for 9,000gns in July. Solid efforts close to her best in two starts for new yard but hasn't really suggested this extra furlong would suit. First time hood added.
Forecasts
Puerto Banus (4/1), First Response (11/2), Zoravan (6/1), Royal Shaheen (13/2), Ghayyar (8/1), Equidae (10/1), Moxy Mares (10/1), Ballymount (12/1), The Navigator (14/1), Evolutionary (20/1), Zodiakos (28/1), Mrs Hoo (33/1), Dance Of Fire (80/1)
Moxy Mares can be excused his latest effort and these conditions should suit better while the consistent First Response is another live contender. ROYAL SHAHEEN boasts some very good course form including a good effort in a higher grade last start. Puerto Banus is a very interesting contender off this mark on handicap and stable debut and market support would be interesting.
- Royal Shaheen
- Puerto Banus
- Moxy Mares
