Below his best of late in a better grade than he faces here, the drop into 0-80 grade along with a first-time visor may help him regain some form. Only win so far came over this trip on good ground; well handicapped if the new headgear is effective.

Failed to make much impact this year having been a multiple winner as a juvenile (won four times; all in handicaps). Appears to need some more help from the handicapper despite falling back below his last winning mark; up in trip to 7f.

Back-to-back wins at Pontefract and over C&D showed her to be in good form in July although she's failed to sparkle in her last two starts. 3lb above her last winning mark, needs a return to this venue to produce some spark again, others preferred.

Winner over 5f/6f this year who looked stretched by an extended 7f in testing conditions at Chester last time. Earlier form looks sound so it becomes a question of him staying this trip on better ground; hard to rule out.

Three wins as a 2yo but hasn't as yet scored this year and despite some creditable efforts has looked rather lazy on occasions (certainly hard work last time). 7f (was over 6f last time) appears more his trip but not hard to have some doubts.

Fairly useful in handicaps; may well be able to make use of a falling mark back at a trip that will suit him better (1m in testing ground too much last time). Wouldn't want any rain, needs the ground to stay as it is to have a chance.

Gradually working his way back from a wind op; best performance since last time at Leicester (6f, good). Helped by the way the race developed but encouraging nonetheless for the future; claims off a career-low mark.

Looks to have needed his first run for this yard having had five-months off since leaving Richard Hannon. Never really landed a blow at Thirsk (1m, good/soft) last time, best watched time around in a bid to learn more about him.

Forecasts

Verdict

Keith Dalgleish has two bites of the cherry here as he bids to follow up his win in the race last year of his two contenders Friendly Advice would be the preference although he still has to prove himself over this 7f, the better ground should help in that regard. Woodside Wonder his other runner may well be developing some quirks which could hamper him. Reeves is respected dropping in grade with a visor now the headgear of choice. Both Self Assessment and ABSOLUTE DREAM come with something to prove, the former should finds this a more suitable test and the same could be said of the latter with the 7f looking to suit after he kept on well over 6f last time.
