Zoffany colt who was foaled on March 1 and cost 65,000 gns as a foal. He is a half-brother to a number of winners, including Genius Boy who scored over 1m and Coquet who was successful at trips up to 1m2f. Likely type on his debut.

Holy Roman Emperor gelding who was foaled on April 30 and cost 80,000 gns as a yearling. He is a half-brother to My Mahrani who scored over 7f as two-year-old. Keep an eye out for any market confidence on his opening start here.

Karakontie colt who was foaled on March 15 and cost £45,000 as a two-year-old. His dam did not prevail but she is a half-sister to Jaish who showed some good form as a two-year-old where she won over 6f. Likely to improve with experience.

14/1
Free Eagle colt who cost €40,000 as a yearling. He is a half-brother to Rum Runner who was successful as a two-year-old. Has an entry in the Derby so clearly well thought of. Interesting newcomer who may well run well on debut.

3/1
Has had the three runs so far and he produced his best performance to date last time when finishing second of 10 at Newbury (7f), beaten by just a neck. Stepping up in trip here which might help his chances. One to consider.

18/1
Lope De Vega colt who was foaled on February 21 and cost €25,000 as a yearling. He is a half-brother to Camphor who won over 1m2f. Probably wise not to expect too much from his opening start but may prove useful in the future.

Horse silk
11/4
Finished second of 13 on his opening start at Doncaster over 7f after going off at 11/4. He was staying on strongly last time so this new distance is likely to suit. Should build upon his debut so he is one of the shortlist

40/1
Poet's Voice colt who was foaled on February 7. He is a half-brother to Nayer Bu Thaila who won over 6f. His dam was a maiden who raced up to 7f. Yard also have Mambo Nights in this race so the market is likely to indicate which has the best chance.

Shandoz20
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-5| J: David Egan| T: R Varian
2/1
Made a promising debut at Newmarket where he finished third of seven, beaten by just ½L in the 1m contest. Likely to improve on that opening appearance on his second start here over the same distance. Leading contender.

Horse silk
66/1
Summer Front colt who was foaled on February 18 and cost £85,000 as a two-year-old. His dam was unraced but a half-sister to Tizcano who won in the US as a sprinter. Should improve with experience under his belt.

Forecasts

Shandoz (2/1), Sea Trout Reach (11/4), Mambo Nights (3/1), Khalifa Sat (14/1), Kenzai Warrior (16/1), Damage Control (16/1), Max Vega (18/1), Glorious Caesar (33/1), Sea Voice (40/1), Summeronsevenhills (66/1)

Verdict

SHANDOZ was not far away over this distance on his debut in what was a pleasing start. He should step up on from that appearance to break his maiden here as many of his rivals will need the run. Mambo Nights was denied by just a neck last time and this step up in trip might help his chances so expect a strong display again, while Sea Trout Reach showed promise on his debut to indicate he is going to be competitive here and can fill the placings.
  1. Shandoz
  2. Mambo Nights
  3. Sea Trout Reach
