Stoutly bred, once raced son of Gleneagles plugged on for fourth of seven after a slow start at Newmarket over this trip three weeks ago. Should have learnt plenty there and could be capable of making a bold bid now.
210,000gns foal by yard's Derby and Arc hero Golden Horn is half-brother to winners Baynunah (1m), Tegara (7f-1m) and King's Girl (7f) out of a smart 6f winner (inc at 2 and Listed). Top connections and commands the utmost respect on debut.
Son of Iffraaj unable to quicken and beaten 12L into eighth of 10 here on debut over 7f just under a month ago. Should fare better this time round but can't see him making the frame.
Promising third in a soft ground 6f maiden at Nottingham on debut and noted finishing very strongly into second over same trip at Carlisle when second latest. On evidence there he will be better still upped to 1m so rates a leading contender here.
€22,000 yearling by Sir Percy is a full brother to 1m2f winner Victoria Pollard and half-brother to two more middle distance winners out of a dam who stayed 1m6f. Likely one for middle distances next year.
Slade Power colt weakened into last of eight over 6f here last month. Unraced dam bred to stay at least 1m so should stay despite being by a sprinter but hard to make any case for yet.
€100,000 son of Le Havre is a half-brother to a 1m2f winner out of a French 9.5f-10.5f winning dam (inc at 2/Group 3). Yard also run Peerless Percy and have a nine per-cent strike rate with juveniles.
Close up fourth of 16 over 7f at Leicester latest a much improved effort despite filling the same finishing position as he had on debut over C&D. Should be in the thick of things here and has sound each-way claims.
Forecasts
Grand Bazaar (4/6), Panic Room (5/2), Caledonian Crusade (10/1), Trumpets Call (14/1), Tombolo (16/1), Make Me Laugh (20/1), Peerless Percy (20/1), Temper Trap (50/1)
It is something of a surprise to see Frankie Dettori riding here on a Thursday and with boss John Gosden's two runners earlier on the card apparently fairly exposed as twice-raced maidens one can speculate that GRAND BAZAAR could be the one he is here for and indeed it would be no surprise given his pedigree if this Derby entered son of the great Golden Horn was well above average. Arguably the best form belongs to Panic Room who looked sure to relish a step up in trip when second at Carlisle latest although Trumpets Call also has form good enough to merit respect.
