7/4
Career best effort over hurdles finishing third of 17 beaten 5¼L at Killarney on handicap debut in August; quickly turned around to win at Balinrobe five days later over 2m2f; untried on expected faster surface but holds every chance if acting on it

Winner of two hurdles races and certainly respected if running up to his best but last three hurdles efforts have been poor and still looks a little to high in the handicap at present.

Ringo Kidt17
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: Mr H D Dunne(5)| T: Mrs O Byrne| OR:  95

Has been struggling on the flat over the summer and his three hurdles outings earlier this year do not inspire too much confidence; not one to currently rely upon.

Bellgrove18
Age: 11|  Weight: 11-10| J: Mr P J O'Neill(7)| T: P M Cloke| OR:  93| D

A better chaser these days but returns to the small obstacles for the fourth time this year; is slowly falling down the handicap but just one win over hurdles and that came five years ago.

Multivizt18

10/1
Sprang a 33/1 surprise when winning well at Tramore last time out with the suspicion being she relished the faster ground she was racing on. Should be able win in current mood and certainly one for the shortlist.
6
Horse silk
Slainte And Thanks19
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-7| J: S A Shortall| T: G Ahern| OR:  90| CD
6/1
Course and distance winner last year off a 6lb lower mark; has been showing fair form over hurdles, fences and on the flat since then and should run her race but win ration is poor and might have to settle for a place finish at best.
7
Horse silk
Alice Johnstonp21
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-3| J: Aidan Kelly(7)| T: P Roche| OR:  86
16/1
Has shown little over hurdles and fences in 11 career starts to date; no reason why she should suddenly get competitive despite inching down the handicap.
8
Horse silk
Allora Yeatst26
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-3| J: P E Corbett| T: P Maher| OR:  86
40/1
11-race maiden who returned from long lay-off when tailed off at Kilbeggan recently. Eased 3lb but has a lot to prove at present if she is going to get involved even at this level.
9
Horse silk
Crafty Codgerp,t19
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-2| J: C R King| T: E O'Connell| OR:  85| D
25/1
Well held by the topweight last time out at Ballinrobe in August and had shown little on his three starts over hurdles since returning from a long absence; dropping down the weights but hard to see him getting competitive.
10
Horse silk
Ashton Court7
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-1| J: Richard Condon(7)| T: J J Hanlon| OR:  84
4/1
12-race maiden but put in a career best performance last time out at Bellewstown over this trip on good ground; probably needs to improve again but looks one of the more likely candidates.
11
Horse silk
Marmalade N Toast13
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-1| J: Mr D Kiely(7)| T: P J Flynn| OR:  88
16/1
Poor flat performer; has shown little on his two hurdles efforts this year, finishing down the field in both; obviously open to improvement but maybe best watched in current form.
12
Horse silk
Moyode Lady24
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-1| J: Gavin Brouder(7)| T: J Nash| OR:  84
20/1
Never been disgraced in three maiden hurdles to date but yet to set the world alight either; best hurdles effort did come on decent ground at Kilbeggan in May so not without a chance but others are preferred.
13
Horse silk
Island Villa18
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-11| J: Simon Torrens(7)| T: P McCreery| OR:  80| CD
25/1
Just one win from 43 starts over hurdles tells it's own story; held by Multiviz on latest start at Tramore and while not out of things off this mark it looks as though a place effort may be the most he can expect.
14
Horse silk
Loch Luathav30
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-11| J: R P Treacy(5)| T: L Young| OR:  80
14/1
26-race maiden over hurdles; has been chasing but posted some fair efforts over the smaller obstacles earlier in the year; does not look up to winning this but has place chances on best of his form.

Forecasts

Happy Jacky (7/4), Ashton Court (4/1), Slainte And Thanks (6/1), Multiviz (10/1), Bellgrove (14/1), Loch Luatha (14/1), Alice Johnston (16/1), Marmalade N Toast (16/1), Ringo Kid (20/1), Moyode Lady (20/1), Lleyton (20/1), Crafty Codger (25/1), Island Villa (25/1), Allora Yeats (40/1)

Verdict

Probably best sticking to those horses with the best recent form and preference goes to MULTIVIZ who won a similar race to this at Tramore last time out and the manner of that victory suggests he can score again even at the revised weights especially if the ground remains on the fast side. Another recent winner is Happy Jacky and although he is untried on the expected fast ground, holds every chance if able to carry his welter burden of 12st4lb. Ashton Court improved for the change of scenery when running well finishing 2nd of 13 in a maiden hurdle at Bellewstown last time out. He finished strongly that day and could go one better here.
  1. Multiviz
  2. Happy Jacky
  3. Ashton Court
