Thousand Words gelding who cost €4,000 as a foal. His dam ran just once in her career in a bumper but she is a half-sister to Markovitch who won over 1m2f. Tongue-tie is on here. Best to watch for now.
Invincible Spirit gelding who was second of 17 in what was a promising debut here over this C&D after going off at 4/1. Open to improvement on his second start. Leading contender now he has experience.
Finished sixth of 10 on his opening start over this distance at Killarney last month after going off at 7/2. He wasn't given a hard race so there could be much more to come on his second attempt. Worth considering.
Still a maiden after three starts. He took a big step forward last time though in what was his best performance yet when finishing third of 17 here, ½L behind Bashiyr. Tongue-tie is on for the first time. Has solid claims.
Has been well-beaten on his two starts so far. He went off at 100/1 last time over this C&D where he could only finish eighth of the 17 runners. Needs to improve a lot on what he has shown so far to be competitive in this contest.
Zoffany gelding who cost €25,000 as a yearling. He is a half-brother to a number of winners, including Vivaldi who won over 1m as a two-year-old and Gorongosa who scored at trips up to 2m. Keep an eye out for any market confidence on his debut.
Has been unable to record his opening success yet in five starts, however, there has been some promising signs. He was fourth of nine over this C&D last time. His experience should help in this contest. One to consider.
Struggled on his debut at Leopardstown over 7f as he had just one rival behind him in the 15 runner field. He did not settle very well on that opening start. Stepping up in trip on his second appearance. Others appeal more.
Has finished a long way off the winner in both of his two runs. He was eighth of 10 on his latest appearance at Tipperary over 1m4½f. Taking a big step down in distance here. Difficult to make a case for on evidence of what we have seen so far.
Mastercraftsman filly who is a half-sister to Plus Night who was successful over 5f and Pass The Trophy who won up to 1m1f. She will wear a tongue-tie on her opening start here. Likely to improve with experience.
Has shown some promise in both of her two outings to date. She was second of 15 on debut at Tipperary (7½f) and then came home fourth of 13 at Roscommon (7½). Up in trip here which is likely to help. One to consider.
Forecasts
Bashiyr (9/10), Canning (4/1), Royal Highness (6/1), Landing Zone (8/1), Calonne (10/1), Miss Clash (16/1), Johan Parvenue (16/1), Double Jemmy (40/1), Everyhouronthehour (100/1), Cliff Avenue (100/1), Pendulum Ben (100/1)
BASHIYR is a well-bred gelding who did very little wrong over this C&D on his debut when finishing second behind a potentially smart horse. He should build upon that run on his second start here which makes him the one to beat. Landing Zone is one of the most experienced runners in the race and that is likely to count for something so expect to see him fighting it out at the end, while Canning was not too far behind Bashiyr last time and should finish in the placings again.
- Bashiyr
- Landing Zone
- Canning
