Has finished a close second on both of his two starts so far. He was denied by just a short-head on his debut at Leopardstown (1m) and then more recently he was 1L away in a 16 runner field at the Curragh (1m). Leading contender.

Made his debut at Galway last month where he was eighth of 11 over 7f after going off at 66/1. Needs to take a huge stride forward here to be competitive on his second start as he never threatened on his opening run.
Improved on a modest debut at the Curragh (7f) to finish second of 19 over that same C&D on his second start, finishing just 1¾L off the winner. Open to improvement, therefore, more can be expected here. One for the shortlist.

Went close to opening win at the Curragh in a big field last time as he was second of 29 over 7f when going off as the 4/1 favourite. One for the shortlist here on his third attempt to get off the mark for a yard that have to be respected.

Power gelding who was foaled on March 31. His dam won over 1m1½f and is closely related to Making Eyes who won over 1m and Viewpoint who prevailed at trips up to 1m6f. Likely to need this debut run.

Made his debut at Cork last month where he could only finish 11th of 21 over the 6f trip. He was awkward out of the stalls on that opening run which did not help his chances. Needs to improve here to be in the mix on his second start.

Australia colt who was foaled on May 13. He is a half-brother to Homer who won over 1m4f. His dam was unraced but is a half-sister to Pacifique who was successful over 1m2f. Interesting newcomer from a yard who are in good form.

Exceed and Excel gelding who was foaled on February 5 and cost 70,000 gns as a foal. His dam finished second over 1m in the US. He will wear a tongue-tie on his debut here where he is best to be watched.

Is still a maiden after four starts, however, he has shown enough promise to suggest that opening success is not far away. He was seventh of eight last time in a Group 1 at Deauville (6f). This is a much easier assignment. One to beat.

Came home ninth of 12 on his debut at the Curragh (6f) when going off at 11/2. He is stepping up in trip here where he will need to improve as he weakened with 2f to go last time. Others are preferred here.

Tamayuz colt who was foaled on January 28 and cost €70,000 as a yearling. His dam won over 1m2f and 1m3f and is a half-sister to 1m4f winner Dark Crusader. A big opening run would be no surprise here as he stands out on paper.

Invincible Spirit colt who finished 12th of 21 on his debut outing at Cork over 6f last month. Is stepping up in distance here where he will need to produce much more in order to be in the mix at the finish.

Has failed to beat a single horse in his two starts so far. His latest effort came at Killarney over 1m in a 14 runner field after going off at 100/1. Is stepping back down in trip but it is very difficult to make a case for him.

First Reserve. Failed to make an impression on his debut at Cork as he came home 14th of 21 on his debut over 6f after going off at 66/1. Needs to take a huge step forward if he makes it into the final field.

Second Reserve. Had just two horses behind him on his debut at the Curragh (7f) in a 29 runner field. Weakened very early into his opening start so it is hard to see him improving enough here if he gets in.

Verdict

ROYAL DORNOCH has been competing in Group company recently so this is a big step down in class. It looks a great chance for him to break his maiden where he should be more than good enough to get off the mark and then go onto bigger things. Agitare has just one found one too good for him on both of his two starts so far and that trend may continue again here, while Edward Hopper also stands out from his last appearance and can be expected to hit the frame on his third start of his career.
  1. Royal Dornoch
  2. Agitare
  3. Edward Hopper
