A maiden after 11 starts, his best form has been on decent ground. Didn't run badly at Kempton (2m5f, good) in May but disappointed shortly afterwards at Newton Abbot (2m5½f, good). Has the best overall form but isn't the most consistent.
Signs of ability in four point-to-point starts but was well beaten in a bumper at Southwell (1m7½f, good) seven weeks ago on his rules debut. Today's longer trip and back over obstacles here may help.

Ran well on his first two starts for this trainer but weakened when stepped up to this trip at Market Rasen (good) 28 days ago. Stamina not confirmed but can play a role if returning to his best.

Has had wind surgery since his last run but his overall form is moderate, and will find life tough in this line-up.

Started racing late in life and has only beaten one horse in three starts over a range of trips. Tailed off on each occasion and unlikely to play a leading role.
Well beaten on two completed starts at Market Rasen (2m½f, good) and here (2m4f, good) in August. Up again in trip but serious improvement required to have any hope of being involved.

Forecasts

Ballygown Bay (5/6), Make The Switch (6/4), Hattaab (13/8), Jonnigraig (8/1), Champagne Vintage (33/1), Weekly Gossip (50/1), Charlotte Du Berry (66/1)

Verdict

A moderate event in which BALLYGOWN BAY has the perfect opportunity to get off the mark. He has the best form and despite being inconsistent should be able to win this contest under the champion jockey. Hattaab started well for Graeme McPherson this summer and can give the selection most to think about if seeing out the trip whilst Champagne Vintage seemed stay 3m between the flags and that may see him best of the rest.
