£70,000 son of Starspangledbanner was a remote last of 14 at Newmarket on debut in July. Had a gelding operation and given time since so hoping for improvement but can only really recommend a watching brief.
Homebred son of Iffraaj the first foal out of 95-rated German Group/domestic Listed placed mare Merry Me. Lone newcomer represents powerful connections and should be closely monitored in the market.
Son of Canford Cliffs ran to a similar level when third of seven at Newbury latest after his sixth of 10 at Kempton on debut. Runners from this yard almost always improve for a step up in trip so extra 1f today can only be seen as a positive.
Had three regally bred sorts from top connections ahead latest when fourth of 10 at Newbury (7f) having been third of 11 earlier at Newmarket (6f). This looks his best chance to date and he looks the one to beat on balance.
