Has won on the Flat but not since he was a three-year-old and trained in France. Proved to be of modest ability over jumps so far and reverts to the Flat after a poor run at Worcester earlier in the month. Stiff test giving weight away.
A dual C&D winner and highly effective in races of this nature; bought for £5,000 after winning a claimer at Redcar last month but failed to build on it when back in a handicap at Carlisle latest. This is easier and could well bounce back.
Won three times over C&D but only lightly raced since landing a brace last April. Highest rated in the line up but only raced once in 2019 and was never a factor on that occasion. Chance at the weights but the betting can guide on race fitness.
Dual C&D winner last year but form of her three starts for her current yard has returned mixed results; her penultimate start was a solid run but reverted to type last time at Lingfield. Does go well here but her inconsistency is a stumbling block.
Lightly raced three-year-old but ratings suggest the gelding has a stiff test against elder rivals (and Baladio, the only other 3-Y-O in the race) on these terms. Also has a bit to prove over this trip.
Wolverhampton has been the gelding's stomping ground since he arrived on these shores from the trainer's brother's yard in France. He has two course wins to his name; not seen since April; but first time in a claimer and can go close if at his best.
Was a 5L second to a decent form book yardstick at Pontefract last month and possibly not suited by the testing conditions at Carlisle latest; has a live chance on these terms judging by a literal reading of the official ratings. Strong claims.
Never started a race at odds below 33/1 and has generally run accordingly. First run in claiming company but still has no appeal.
Won twice over 6f earlier in his career but struggled when tried over this trip previously. Did come good over 1m4f in a seller here in June but reverted to type with poor efforts in low-key races since.
Stablemate of Final Attack who is 0-17 so far and looks the lesser hope of the yard's intended runners. Hard to recommend given that his only previous run on Tapeta (for a different yard) was a very poor effort.
Forecasts
Anif (10/11), Baladio (3/1), Ruby Gates (5/1), Seven Clans (9/1), Undercolours (14/1), By Rail (14/1), Final Attack (20/1), Shovel It On (22/1), Misty Breese (50/1), General Patton (80/1)
BALADIO takes a drop in grade and the unexposed three-year-old looks the most appealing choice in her first outing in a claimer. The filly's latest start can be forgiven as the ground was too testing for her that day and she's better judged on her two previous runs. A repeat of either will see her thereabouts in a weak race like this. Anif is generally consistent and can go well now he's back on Tapeta, as can Seven Clans if he's been freshened up by his summer break. Ruby Gates isn't all that reliable but can also play a part if she's back on song.
- Baladio
- Anif
- Seven Clans
